Strong teachers, curriculum, and overall support. Kids were well prepared to succeed in middle school. The focus on art and music for all was core to a shared Dryden experience.

Great school, great teachers! I can not believe that my 2nd grader hobby is reading now - all because of the wonderful teachers there.

My son has been in the first grade for almost a year and he enjoys going to school (and stays in the after school program run by the Park District). From my personal experience, the principal is very active in student activities, be it morning greetings/afternoon goodbyes, classroom programs or periodic after school activities. I find the school/parents communications effective, and PTA always engaged with many helping parents. I am very impressed with the artworks by students with good guidance from the art teacher. The music teacher is also active, directing student performances by each grade. I have heard anecdotal negative comments about teacher departures, but reading some school reports, I found teacher turnover ratio to be at a normal level. The teacher for my child's class was new to school at the beginning of the school year, and I appreciate what she has done for the students. I do spend some time working with my child on his homework. The parts assigned by the teacher are very limited, but I know there are expectations, and developing a habit of reading and other learning would be helpful for his future growth. The approach to each child may be different, and, as a parent, leaving everything to school may not be practical or responsible.

Is there is any possibility to give zero stars to this school ? Personally, I would not recommend this school,it is totally overrated.Let's start with the principal , this woman does not have any idea how to communicate with the students and their parents. First of all, she is so rude(of course in the office,no outside when many parents watching her) , with no manners whatsoever. If you try to reach out for help, you DO NOT get it.The principal easy going out of control, and can you imagine she is actually yelling at the kids in their faces .....My question is how did she get hired as an educator? Also, she does not have any knowledge to control school staff . She definitely doesn't know how to act professional and civilized. The majority of the teachers tend to copy her behavior and it is often times impossible to communicate without causing any arguments. From what I am seeing the kids are under a lot of unnecessary stress and discrimination (all the foreign children of course). The lady which usually sits at the front desk always ignore people from other nationalities or responds very rudely, as if we are not worth her time. Whatever you do, don't force your child through a school like this. Thanks God there still working some wonderful educators which are not affected from principal incompetence.Unfortunately, this is the result .....incompetent leadership.

This school is overrated. Perhaps at one time it was a great school, like some have stated, but having kids attending it the past 4 years and being an educator myself, I can honestly say with the exception of a two teachers, the rest are awful. Not sure if it has to do with the lack of experience, lack of desire, or they are just not good at their job, that is no excuse considering the high taxes we pay for their "nice" salaries. These teachers should have higher degrees and should be going a above and beyond with teaching the curriculum. Anyone can Xerox and assign workbook pages. Be prepared to re teach at home and hire tutors.

If I could put zero stars, I would. Could not get my children out of this school fast enough. If your child is in the 80%--meaning, does not have issues or is academically excellent , this place will be fine. Dealing with the administration is mind-numbing. Principal is average at best. More interested in politics and policies than children and their needs to be successful. The teachers take direction from her and don't like to think outside the box. The good teachers don't last long--they either leave or succumb to her management. It is her very narrow way, or the highway!

Very good partnership between teacher & parents. Technology resources for chidlren are good, too.CAP program partnership (after school care) is among best in the district although run by the park district. They all dove tail to guide the children / parents well. Top art & music teachers.

Award-winning art teacher, gregarious and talented music teacher, nurturing teachers. The vice-principal stands out on the corner every day rain or shine (or snow) to high-five the students and wave at the parents and students arriving in cars. Every teacher has gone above and beyond to both welcome and educate my child. Words cannot express how thrilled I am with this school!

I had my kids at this school for 5 years.Would not recommend sending your child to this school. The teachers care more about finding out what is going on in your home than teaching the children. They have my email and send me email's 5 times a day about things that are not important it drives me crazy. Can't wait to get out of this school and be done with them.

My children love their school. You will not be able to find a better art teacher anywhere! The regular classroom teachers are wonderful too. When my children showed they needed more challenging work, their teachers were ready to provide it. The communication between parent and teacher is easy. Parent involvement at the school is welcomed and encouraged.
