Hugo Reid is a good school and there are a handful of teachers that are outliers and truly outstanding. However, if you are unfortunate enough to have your child be bullied, don't expect that the administration will do anything to hold the bullies accountable. They will provide support to your child, but will not bring in the bullies for any type of meeting or consequence. Their justification is that as long as it's "not happening anymore" then they just ignore it, like it never even happened. There will be no justice because they won't even bother to bring it up to the aggressors or their parent/guardians.

The school administration's attitude is extremely poor. While I was driving to drop off my baby at kindergarten, I received a call from the school informing me that my son had brought a toy card to school, which is not allowed. They demanded that I immediately go to the school to retrieve the card. I explained that I was driving and would arrive in 20 minutes. However, the administrator insisted that someone had to come right away, refusing to wait. I find this unreasonable.

Teacher yelling at parents when picking up students now every afternoon. One day the teacher aggressively yelled at a non-English speaking parent who is riding a bicycle to pick up his kid, “you have to go that way, you have to go that way if you pick them up on foot; this is for picking up by cars.” I have heard student ask parents, why do you have to pick me up on foot? Parents ask, “we don't have a car?!”

I would highly recommend this school. They always showed kindness and respect to the students. Last month my daughter got very sick she had to miss the school many days. Her teacher Mrs. Ortland showed so much worry and kindness through her problem. She also, made all her classmates write something sweet to encourage her. After they all made a beautiful book and gave to her. When I was reading I had tears in my eyes it made she feels so special after all the things that she went through. Also the principal Mrs. Leahy was awesome she went to our house and gave a beautiful flowers for her. It made her day! My overall experience is GREAT for sure.

I would highly recommend any parent who sends their kid to this school to join the PTSA and become a board member. Your children will receive first choice of everything the school can offer. . They will get best teachers, recognition, student council seats and the leads in every school play. They will have a direct advantage over students who's parents work.

I've been at this school from kindergarten to fifth grade, and it's been satisfactory all this time. The teachers and principal are all supportive and kind. I couldn't ask for a better school! It was sad to move on.
