This school ruined me. I will never be the same person I was before i attended Aptos Junior High.

Really difficult for kids with disabilities to succeed when they are preyed upon by bullies, gangsters, jerks and punks. Principal is held hostage by horrible kids and has to create safety plans for the vulnerable. 0 StarsVibe Check = SusDo not Recommend

My son had a fantastic experience here when he attended from 2016-2018. New to the district and introverted, he quickly made friends with kids in his classes and the after school rock band. Teachers at the school are exceptionally caring and professional, although some honors classes are overly rigorous and homework-heavy. Principal Rich Moran created a wonderful culture of inclusivity that I hope carries forward as a new principal takes the baton this year.

We have been so impressed with AJHS! Our son loves his teachers, the staff, coaches and the principle. He enjoys going to school and all that it has to offer! There are multiple times he has come home saying "this teacher is so awesome" or " my teacher makes this class so fun because...." I find myself on campus from time to time and am consistently impressed with the staff, their friendliness and the way they go out of their way to know who you are, as well as your child. I am also very impressed with the kids, who are friendly, smiling and respectful. The principle is very accessible, easy to talk to and seems genuinely concerned with the well being of the students. He is always around, and I feel that the kids very much respect and admire him. I often see him talking and laughing with students and it is a wonderful thing to see, especially for students of this age. I feel the school counselor is extremely professional and does everything she can to help students achieve their best. The coaches seem to really care for the kids and it is wonderful that the after school sports is such a big part of the school to keep kids of this age busy and involved! Wonderful school!

This school is not a bad one. It is academically possible to succeed. However, the staff and teachers seem absolutely merciless; when I voiced my complaints about teachers making me feel bad about myself (and that I wanted to switch classes), they would not listen and still continued to file me associated with that class. Punishments such as detentions and Friday schools seem to be given out like party favors. In English I read [the] entire book instead of the allotted chapters we were given, and got reprimanded with punishment. I was punished for doing more than I should have? What? I wouldn't recommend this school. I found myself incredibly reluctant to go each day.
