Amherst County High School is not a proper Hight School for students, I am a 10th grade student that has experienced racism disrespectfulness from teachers' administrators and some staff. I do NOT recommend this school at all.

I graduated from Amherst County High School in 2005. I thouroughly enjoyed my time at Amherst. The teachers and staff at the school were very helpful day in and day out. Most teachers welcomed questions and were very available if more help was needed outside of the classroom. I played sports while at Amherst and thought the coaching staffs were just as helpful and guiding. They made sure that grades were where they needed to be before students were able to participate in each sport. Also, grades would be checked periodically throughout the term of the sport to make sure each student was staying on top of their studies. Overall, the years I spent at Amherst County High School were some of the greatest years I've had, and I owe it all to the faculty and students for making it such a pleasant experience.

I have lots of friends whose children go to Amherst and they have nothing but the nicest things to say about this school. They love the administration and feel their kids are getting and have had the best education. I asked these questions because I am a booster member and have great concerns for the kids. Yes, they have a great football program. This is a great school and has great community support as well.

My child is a student at ACHS. I have spent a lot of time comparing the high school to the surrounding school systems. ACHS is performing very well in the area of SOL testing and accreditation. The test scores surpassed many of the city schools. The school offers advanced classes, AP courses, Early College, and the Gov. school. The opportunities are there, the students and parents need to take full advantage of them.
