Sawyer adopted the "no homework" policy, which I personally believe hurts students and the school. Our daughter scored 98% in math in fourth grade with some homework (at least we knew what they were doing at school and worked with her additionally at home). In fifth grade without any homework and textbook - we had no idea about the material her score plummeted to 80%. In sixth grade she was back on truck at 97%. Her low score of 80% did not qualify her to take higher level math in middle school. Sawyer ended up on the bad list twice in the past 5 years, but yet, administration does not recognize that workshops for TEACHERS will do very little if teachers do not teach STUDENTS to work harder, and that means - homework.
