While there are some dedicated teachers at the Middle School, and a very good music department, the negatives of the middle school far outweigh the positives

My son has thrived at Ames Middle School. The teachers are supportive and challenge students to continually improve both academically and socially. There are countless extra curricular activities (sports, academic clubs, philanthropic clubs, etc.) and the school does an excellent job supporting those activities so that they are open for all students. Excellent school!

AMS has been a very positive experience for our family. The teachers are extremely supportive of the students and are always willing to talk to the parents about academics or other issues concerning the children. The diverse backgrounds of both students and staff are a plus in my book. There are many extra-curricular activities and they are open to all students. Academics are challenging and prepare students for high school. We have been very satisfied with AMS in the 3+ years we have been a part of the school.

School administrators are horrible, rude and they are not working for the kids. The principal "Pam" is certainly incompetent when it comes to bullying issues. They want to avoid issues at all costs and they do not support the victims at all because they just do not want to do the paperwork and or work in general in dealing with the bullies themselves and their parents. A shame since Ames is such a great community and use to be a great place to get an education for our children. Maybe it will improve with another principal and better bullying initiative. Praying this will not be another Columbine. Sorry, but these people just do not care about their jobs nor the kids.

Ames middle school. Everyone is horrible. The kids have no manners and are never disciplined. Majority of the teachers including the principal and they women in student services are fake. They are rude to your face and are very happy and more then willing to embarrass someone. They are rude and should be fired. take your kid somewhere else unless you want them to be bullied and have the immature adults not do anything about it. If you want a good education for you kid this is a good place but their lives will be miserable and there spirits may be crushed.
