Ms Olmos likes to talk about tenure. Well her tenure along with some other teachers in the 15 or 20 year plus range need to move along. I had one kid go here and one younger teacher was amazing. The office was unhelpful and did not care. I now have a child in kinder and wow the teacher has been around to long and does not have the desire anymore. The office secretary did not even take out her AirPods when meeting all the parents. The other recent review is spot on…

My son attended this school since kinder throughout 6th garde. Teachers there have been teaching for decades and are old , do not have the patience and passion to teach any more . The school facility is old and the principal Olmos lacks on supporting the students she canceled 6th grade promotion without a reason which is not fair to them after so many yrs on this school. This school should be redone with more competent staff who trive for kids education.

My child didn’t know English before we got to the United States and since she entered 2nd grade her teacher helped her and even offered after school sessions to help her with her English reading and pronunciation. In third grade her teacher was amazing and super nice they thought her so much about math and language. I also like that they incorporated a lot of fun games for math and also the teacher concentrated on Arts like painting and Acting. My child’s class actually recreated a show called A Christmas Carol not the classic story but a story about an elf named Carol. Her fourth grade teacher also was amazing she thought her students a lot about science they even did a project researching on Don Edward’s reserve about investigating a square they had every season so they went in 4 different field trips plus many others. Then fifth grade it has been harder because of the distance learning but my child’s teacher has been so amazing how they have managed the situation. They are one of the strictest teachers but all the homework is worth it for many of my child’s classmate they hadn’t done any of the work at the beginning and now they are A+ students but like the fifth grade teacher said no student is perfect they all have knowledge in them.Former Parent of Student

My child's Kindergarten teacher last year was amazing! So grateful for the love and care she gave my daughter. The principle was amazing too! We are excited for this new school year!

My childs 2nd grade teaches needs to retire since she no longer has a passion for teaching.the homework is not consistently passed down to students correctly and the teacher will not let come back to get find out what the assingment was even if it's friday and the work due on tuesday.i reported the issue to the last principal but she left her position before she followed up with us.several time she has cornered our child in front of us looked at him in the eye while raising her voice and point at him saying i know told you to this but you did something else ,of course he's going to agree when you corner him and put him in that situation where he has no way out when confronted by the teacher in public of other students and parents .we fear reaching out to the district due to fear of retaliation of her targeting and failing our child hope fully some reads this and reaches out us on how to go about this properly.

Many of the teachers need to retire as they've lost their passion for teaching, their energy to do a good job, and their compassion for the students. There are a few teachers who "lead" the decisions of the entire staff (not very representative of all the staff, however), and keep a relatively negative feeling in the workplace for the others. Brand new principal is in over her head.

This was my kids' first year at George Mayne (K & 3) and they felt welcomed and enjoyed their classes. There were a lot of field trips and special events, there are music lessons for grades 3-5, there is a play coach working with the kids during the day and at lunch recess. The teachers are great too. The PTA members are welcoming to new volunteers.

I had some doubts about this school before my daughter started attending two years ago. My doubts have been erased as I have seen her grow and learn so much. She loves going to school and the two teachers that she has had, Mr. Tai (kinder/1st grade combo) and now Ms. Hamane have been awesome. They are both so passionate about teaching and wanting their students to succeed. We have a new principal this year and although she's only been here for a couple of months, she seems like a good fit. I like the school's philosophy of positive reinforcement and recognizing the good work/behavior that the kids are putting out there instead of focusing on the negative. The only thing that I really don't like is the physical location of the school. There is construction activity going on all around the school. It's polluting and doesn't seem like a very healthy environment for children with all the dust and diesel trucks constantly coming and going.

This is our first (and only) year at Mayne. All three principals have been really nice. The onsite Boys & Girls Club program and staff are fantastic. However, most of the kids in my daughter's class are mean (huge contrast to her previous school, where she was friends with almost everyone). Her teacher is frequently extremely rude, mean, unprofessional, and has delusions of grandeur. I'm waiting to see if we win the open enrollment lottery for next year. If not, I'll find a way to homeschool or rent a room in our old neighborhood, rather than subject my awesome kid to this school.

School has potential to be great, great principal who is bringing new ideas and staff that is dedicated to better students. Lack of support from parents, office staff that is unorganized and facilities that could use some TLC holding the school back from being great.

Well our school is a title 1 school so we are very limited to the things that we have for the needs of our student's, or the financial help from parents. Our school can use some remodeling or up dating to it being so old. But overall it's a great school with great staff. .

pre school students were yelled most of the time. I personally witnessed this during a library visit and teachers need to be more friendly. they just did not seem to be happy to teach. how sad!!

I have to agree some teachers may be rude, but not all of them are. Some has teached me and prepared me for life like Mr. Corbin. He is my favorite tteacher. He teached me about how life goes on and he teaches me how tto dance. I reccomend him as a really good teacher.

Some teachers are very rude and tend to favor students. Some of the volunteers are mean to the children as well. You can't even choose where to sit during lunch! The helpers force the students to fill in the lunch tables row by row, thus sometimes separating the kids from their friends and they are forced to eat with strangers. Also, I see no reason why there should be uniforms. This isn't a private school and isn't exactly a "high class" school.
