Overall I think it’s good good school system, but a few things could be worked on. First of all, I feel nervous walking in the halls because I’m afraid that someone will touch me inappropriately. I know it’s not likely, but it happens often to other kids. The teachers aren’t often paying attention to what the kids are saying in the halls. There is some pretty bad stuff. I know it’s “normal” in middle schools, but it shouldn’t be. For example, some of the cross country girls got catcalled by the football players. My friend went to the principal, but nothing really happened afterward. Another thing is the agenda situation. I understand why the teachers want to moderate the bathroom usage, but the teacher should be able to recognize how much a certain person uses the restroom after a while. I agree with being organized, but I think they are a bit extra. Finally, it’s really expensive to get things here. This past year, it was $35 for a yearbook! I think that’s a lot of money for a book of pictures. Getting into dances and games cost money too. If the school wants to treat us, then we shouldn’t have to pay. Think about it like this: if I gave you a pie, I wouldn’t expect you to pay me for the sugar that I used for it. There are a lot of good things the school has to offer, like good education and extracurricular activities. Please put this into consideration.

The teachers are knowledgeable, friendly and caring. They really want their students to succeed. They have a wide variety of sports and academic clubs to choose from. And the administration is fair in its approach to discipline.

Overall experience has been positive. They work well with my child.

Nothing about this school impressed me and I'm very glad my kids are done with it. The administrative staff was friendly on arrival, but uncooperative in any manner after that. The dress code is ridiculous, bullying is a serious problem, and the traffic flow is horrible.

AJH cracks down on kids a lot which is nice, so you don't have to worry too much about fights and things like that during school hours. There are a some really good teachers here, but mostly just average. The electives seem to have shrunk as there is no speech/drama anymore. PE is a waste of time, they don't even change clothes. The music program is good and there are plenty of sports options to choose from The academic team has taken the state championship the last three years. Make sure your kids are in the AP/college prep/advanced version of the classes and they should be fine. The Art program was also exceptional the last two years. Location could be out of the way since it is on the Southside of town which is not so good. Buses have been problematic for us.

I Think its an OK School...Still need some improvements specially with some of the rules they have(ridiculous), there are some teachers that really want to help kids to learn, but there are others that are only for the check, need help in the cafeteria they have bad attitude and manners examples to the students, but for the rest is ok ;)
