West Ward is an amazing school! My son had a wonderful experience there. The teachers are kind and caring, the principal goes out of her way for each and every student. The special education teacher and the paras at this elementary are wonderful, full of good ideas and ways to support and educate the children that need additional assistance. If you are lucky enough to be able to send your child to West Ward, you will not regret it. I’m surprised on the (rare) occasions I hear other parents complain. The problems generally have more to do with the parents and the home life they provide, not the school or teachers.

It’s hard to believe anyone would claim this is a good school; they must be out of touch. You really have to be a true Alleganite to buy into that nonsense. To start with, the principal's overly sweet demeanor feels completely insincere, almost nauseating. She keeps a large box of candy in her office, but when I brought my young autistic son in, she became very protective of it and told him he couldn’t have any because it was reserved for her teachers. What kind of unkind person is she? Don't be deceived by her cheerful smile; she exhibits more of a witch-like demeanor. Additionally, the special education teacher seems quite elderly and out of touch; it might be time for her to step down. She sent me an unprofessional email that had a dry tone and was entirely inappropriate. You can easily tell that they are nothing more than a group of judgmental gossipers. It's clear there is a shortage of staff at this school. Good riddance! I feel sorry for anyone who has no choice but to put up with this environment.

Upon entry into the school you are greated with a friendly face, a smile and the office with immediate help or guidance. The teaching staff is amazing, with all teachers making themselves available during the day or night. No question to big or small. I recommend west ward to anyone!

The teachers and all the staff are hard working, caring people. They have made my boys want to go to school each day!

West ward puts the kids first. They are greeted each morning by Mr. Dalm by name and sent home every afternoon the same way. Children know they are in a safe nurturing environment when they go to school here. They know they are loved.

I couldn't ask for a better school for my 3 kids. In fact we move to allegan just for Westward! It doesn't get better then that. The school works with the parents to make sure that anything and everything is satisfying for the kids.
