My kindergartner has made leaps and bounds since starting this school. I wish I had this school for my older child. It’s a God send. Everything is very organized, it makes sense. They prepare the kids for college and teach them to be good people. It’s helped me personally, to have the support. So thankful

I am a parent of 2 students that attend Emmaus Alhambra. My son started 4th grade in the middle of the year. We were worried about him making friends and being accepted so late in the year but in the end, we had nothing to worry about. His classmates and teachers as well as all other faculty welcomed my son with open arms. He quickly made friends and has had a GPA no less than 3.90 since he started. The flowing year my daughter joined kindergarten at Emmaus and has loved it. All the teachers and staff know everyone's name and ours as well. The school teaches religion in a wonderful way that keeps kids involved. And the curriculum is intruiging and respectful. I highly recommend this school.

My two children have attended Emmaus since preschool and are now entering 4th grade! Emmaus provides strong academics while meeting the needs of each child individually. My son struggles with emotional outbursts, and the teachers have been able to work with him and modify for him which I am forever grateful for! My daughter struggled with learning to read, but the teachers inspired her and encouraged her and now she reads above grade level. As Christians, my husband and I value Christian education in today's world more than ever--our kids sing praise songs, read their Bibles, lead prayer time, and know the Bible stories front and back! I love the joy and faith they have found through Jesus and we have Emmaus to thank for that faith foundation. I am also so happy about how they can participate in sports, drama, and music while attending Emmaus, and I can't wait for them to experience more as they head to the upper grades. Emmaus is a family--all the parents and students get to know each other because of the small class sizes and the overall community. The principal, teachers, and staff really love all the students, and we love them!

Great staff. Highly Christ centered. All the teachers are excellent and highly qualified. Best school I've ever seen.

Great school and loving Christian teachers. My daughter has been at Emmaus Lutheran School for 8 years now beginning in preschool. I am very happy to say she has grown up in a wonderful environment to learn in. The school is beautiful and this place loves and cares for every child that walks in. Very peaceful place for children to grow.

Hypocrites! My kid attended from 6th thru part of 8th grade. Extremely disappointed that they do not practice loving compassionate Christian values. My kid experienced cyber-bullying from classmates & when I brought it up to administrators, their response was "Oh, it can't be them - they are good kids". Their definition of "good" is whoever has the best grades - those kids are treated as if they do no wrong. If something is lost or stolen in class, they automatically blame the kids w/ the lowest grades. The school boasts of high academic performance, but I noticed that they maintain the high average performance by pressuring the lower performing kids to transfer out, or they make things so miserable for them that the poor kids are begging their parents to take them out. Finally, during 8th grade I transferred my kid to a public middle school, & there received the extra after-school tutoring that was a great hlp (all for free!).

We have been an Emmaus family for several years now, and we continue to be impressed. The teachers are simply so caring and really take the time to understand and connect with each student. I can't tell you have many times my son's teacher has told me a funny story about him or given me her thoughtful insight. The hardworking principal, Mrs. Hittinger, has an open door policy and leads with common sense. The academics are strong with a mix of good old-fashioned "book-learning" and fun educational activities. Already my son's class has gone on two educational field trips, and it is only the end of October. The school has also greatly improved their technology program with a mobile computer lab and now, digital smartboards in every classroom! Even the kindergarteners are taught basic computer skills. We can't wait until the refurbished gym is re-opened, and look forward to a great year!

New to the school but happy already. My child is brand new to Emmaus, but already has been made to feel welcome. So thankful that I brought my child here and anticipate a great year.

I thank God that we found this school. The teachers are great, the school staffs are nice and very friendly. My son and myself feel welcomed and loved. I noticed good changes in my son's spiritually and academically. I'm so thankful to the teachers that I know, Ms Tyndall and Mrs Hart. I'm so amazed of how Mrs Hart full of love and encouragement for both of us, the student and parent. She's devoted to God and dedicated to the school and it's like teaching is her world, and she's happy doing it....and very energetic too. Looking forward to get to know to the next level teachers. God bless you all!

I am glad I brought my child to this school. Pastor Chai helped my child in improving English and homework. Pastor Chai helped many new immigrant students to feel at home in the school and would go out of his way to help students and parents with their problems. I am sad that Pastor Chai is leaving.

Poor management and the adcadmic level is relatively low when compare with public school. Why pay extra money for a low quality education.

Just read the last two posts and am shocked. My child just graduated from Emmaus and I am extremely grateful to this school for all of the many things it did for my child. There is a music and arts program, the curricul is very strong, especially in the upper grades, as my child is moving on into advanced classes for high school. The teachers are very interested in helping children, and do take the time to work with individual students. I don't know about how they are paid--it seems to me that the longevity of the teaching staff reflects something good about what the teachers make, or at least a real commitment to the school. There is a technology program that is strong, and teachers do have teaching resources, at least from what I have seen. The principal listens to parents, and may not always say yes to everyone's requests, does treat people fairly ad kindly. The difference between this school and others that I have had experience with is that this school has a very comfortable ad welcoming feel to it. Once you are here, you don't want to leave it. I am going to miss my Emmaus family, but I know I am always welcome back.

Emmaus is a loving school. The teachers are great but extremely UNDER paid. The academics are lacking. The teachers have NO resources. They use outdated curriculum, have no manipulatives and no science program at all. There are no arts or music programs which should be standard at a private school. There is also no parent organization to speak of. The school could be so much more if only the leadership put the emphasis on creating and fostering a strong academic program.

We loved Emmaus Lutheran! My daughter, now a college freshman, attended Emmaus from 5th - 8th grade. The academic program is impressive and transitions from one grade to the next are smooth. The staff and administration provide a program that is seemless and focused. Learning is taught in an environment that promotes critical thinking across the educational spectrum. The children are taught Christian character values, self reliance, accountability, time management skills, research skills, in addition to the academic program. Extracurricular programs enrich the academic environment and promote a Christian community spirit. The skills my daughter learned at Emmaus were recognized immediately by her high school teachers and are in force today at Arizona State University. Not only did my daughter form a solid and diverse knowledge base, she made life long friends. Friendships that are based on respect and moral development. From her first day at Emmaus, a new 5th grader, she was enveloped by a group of children and made part of the Emmaus family from the first day. The support & Christian example given by the teachers and the Principal are what make Emmaus the most special.

My son started attending Emmaus at 3rd grade after attending a local public school. We noticed a sharp difference between the public schools and a Christian private school. The staff & teachers at Emmaus are loving & friendly. They are honest with the parents about their child's progress and will work with the parents & students. The volume of school work is not that much different from the public schools, but the difference is that the higher level of academics the students are exposed to. For example, handwriting at Emmaus is taught starting in the 2nd grade, unlike the public schools that start handwriting in the 3rd grade. Some of the novels covered in the 6th-8th grade are the same novels covered at the local high schools. Emmaus really works to prepare their students for high school. Being a private school, they are not bound by the policies and procedures of a school district, and therefore have a little more freedom to do things. For the teachers & staff, it is not just a job to them. They are genuinely driven by God s love . . . great teachers & staff, great academics, family environment. I'm really going to miss this place after my son graduates this year!

Emmaus Lutheran School is a great place for academics, character development, and extra-curricular activities. I graduated from Emmaus myself, and when I went to highschool I was very well prepared for the academics--in fact I felt highschool was easy and many of my teachers were surprised to see how well I could write and noted that I must have had a great elementary school. Many of the top students from my highschool came from Emmaus--which is a small school, which shows how well they prepared us for the years ahead. I also learned how to be well-rounded because at Emmaus they offer so many extra-curricular activites and everyone gets to be a part of them... from drama, to choir, to handbells, to sports, to cheerleading, and even student government--I get to be a part of it all. And of course the most important lessons I learned there were the spiritual truths found in the Bible. With such loving and Christian teachers it truly is a place where students can grow and develop in the knowledge and the love of the Lord.
