There are a few wonderful teachers there who work very hard and truly care about kids. A few. After 2.75 years there, we decided to homeschool and have never looked back. This school is a classic example of money not being able to solve problems. It has one of the highest per-pupil spending in the state and is one of the worst-performing schools. It's also a great example of why neighborhood schools are a better model than giant, centralized 1000-pupil campuses, no matter how nice and fancy they look on the outside.

Teachers are good, and I appreciate the work they do. Principal is not qualified, friendly, knowledgeable, caring, or understanding. She deflects blame and will not admit when she is wrong.

This school has amazing extracurricular activities to choose from: archery club, running club, bible club, cooking club, Zumba, basketball (has one of the State of New Mexico’s top rated basketball coaches), choir club, free after school tutoring, just to name a few. The principals advocate for families and fight for students to receive the best education whatever that might look like, they definetly work to think outside the box and improvise for the children. There are amazing teachers who have a compassionate heart for teaching and care about the children. The community events at the school bring people together and create positivity for the neighborhood. Be lucky to find this gem of a school within such a large public school system!

All three of my kids have gone to Alamosa Elementary School. The teachers that they had are top notch. The administration is easy to work with. My kids weren't just a test score to them. Parking was an issue, but they have opened up the new parking lot to the east of the school. This has made things better. Also, now every kid gets to learn guitar and Spanish. Pretty cool!

School has all students arrive at the same time resulting in traffic jams that I have been stuck in for 20 mins. This results in excessive tardies for my daughter as well as several other parents that I have talked to. My daughter has been lost twice and forgotten outside once (1st grade). School needs to stagger start times or offer other drop off options.
