This school used to be amazing. It has gone down tremendously in the last 2 yrs. The current principal only cares about the test scores and making herself look good. The students are forced on hours of computer time. There is no real teaching happening. Most of the Veteran teachers, who have taught for decades have left, or are planning to leave. That alone tells you a lot. The enviroment is just sad. Do not bring your student if they are in SPED. The services are unrealiable, almost criminal. They educators in charge don't know what they are doing and some are unqualified. The people at the top have let this school die.

Bullying is a huge problem at this school. it’s not only child on child Bullying. The staff, in particular the office in the yard duty are vicious to children. Your child has an incident at school where they’re hurt don’t expect a phone call. Expect to be gossiped about and made fun of you concerned about your child and upset that you weren’t notified. Discretion is most certainly not in the vocabulary of the school staff. They’re more concerned with numbers and getting paid by the state then if your child is hurt, they have a new principal every month it seems like. The latest is bribing kids even if they’re sick to come to school so they can have slime parties. That being said, there are some great teachers who have been there for a very long time but once you get past second grade, you might as well change schools. Also notice it only goes up to fourth grade because at fifth grade soon to be fourth grade, the kids are sent to the junior high because of overcrowding. The school both three elementary schools yet only uses one. And good luck dealing with the staff because nepotism is prevalent throughout the school and the district office which has been sued multiple times for a plethora of things. Student confidentiality is not important. That is reflected in actions, such as releasing information without following proper state mandated guidelines. And then getting angry when they get in trouble and causing trouble for your child at school hence the bullying. It’s a shame in an area where people clearly value their children, though there is such a junk school ran by a district of individuals who has been sued, and is completely incompetent inapt at that job. There is only one grade level so if your child is behind, or if they are accelerated… There is no modification.

This school used to be amazing. Unfortunately they have had a turn over in principles. With every principle came new agendas. The newest principle has no respect for the teaching staff or community. It's all about making her look good in the eyes of the Administration. She is rude to the parents, students, and has little support for her staff. The SPED program is horrible. They have people who have no idea how to follow an IEP, or address a students needs and goals. The general Ed teachers are amazing. They are supportive and encouraging to their students. Many have been there for years. Hopefully this poor Administration does not drive them all away. They should be valued and respected. Without the teachers this school would be nothing.

La principal y maestras son muy buenas mis hijos las quieren mucho pero tenemos que llamar al departamento de salud porque la comida de la cafeteria siempre esta mala y así se la dan a los niños.

We moved to Acton in 2013, after school was already in session. We came from a school we were very happy with, so as parents we were a bit nervous for our son to start a new school! I can not say enough about Meadowlark School! An amazing principal (who was also new to the school) and a great group of teachers and staff! My son is flourishing and is doing so much better then we could have hoped! Great school, Great community! A+

I have two children with IEPs .Moving to Acton was one of the best things I could have done. What LAUSD could not teach my son in one year this school showed him in one month. He's other school said he was a slow learner cause he just knew three numbers. One month at Meadowlark and he counts to 50 and knows all he's abc's. My 11 year old has Autism all she made was sounds, one month of being here she speaks 10 words something that made me so happy we thought she was never going to talk.In my experience and what schools and teachers having been telling me about my children the Acton schools are just the best.

Meadowlark was great when Gil Yoon was principal there. He really knew how to get the students enthusiasm up. Since he left, the school seems to have gone downhill. The school district superintendent seems to be more interested in nepotism than qualifications as far as staff goes. Some good teachers have come and gone. The focus seems to be on how to get more money for the district, not quality of education or listening to parents input.

Mrs Freeman was a great principal who put 110% into her work at Meadowlark. It seems to me that she was very dedicated to making Meadowlark a better place, however her hands were tied by the superintendent that, in my opinion, views our children as liabilities instead of human beings with individual needs. The signs around Acton that read "Rediscover AADUSD" is district money wasted. Hiring a marketing person to get more "butts in seats" is a real slap in the face to this community. Shouldn't that money be spent on caring for the families that have been loyal to the district through all of it's challenges?

I have two children who attend(ed) this school. Mrs. F, the principal, ran the school into the ground. She placates parents needs and does nothing to fix them. I have found the staff to be very helpful but some of the teachers have been around since I was in school and that was 20 years ago. I think there needs to be a better program for accelerated children. If it were not for the administration of this district I would have given it more stars but as it stands this district needs an overhaul, badly.
