This school's leadership is seriously questionable. They say the Anti-Bully pledge everyday, but when it comes to suspension or expulsion for extreme bullying cases, the principal does nothing. There is no consequences for filming fights or cyber bullying. As a teacher in the bay area with a principal that does handle cyber bullying and the filming of fights with suspensions and expulsions over time, I know that this kind of discipline exists. With all of the school shootings and violence in response to bullying these days, you would think that the school's leadership would handle these things seriously. Writing is not a school wide focus and with the switch to common core standards students need more instruction than ever in writing essays. My niece wrote 2 her 4th grade year. Thankfully, my niece only has one more year at this lackluster school.

Our link to Barry School goes back 30 years. Our 3 adult children all went through Barry School. We wee very active in the School, the teachers, staff & parents worked as a unit for the education of our children. They were the best and still are. Now our Grandkids go to Barry School some of the same wonderful teachers & staff are still there. What is such a blessing is that all of the new teachers have the same caring drive to teach our grandkids. I hope all parents will join PTSA and join the teachers & staff in the education of their children. It takes not only teachers but active parents which Barry School always has had. Having served as a PTSA Board member & member I encourage all parents & grandparents & family to work with Barry to help our kids have a wonderful journey through 8th grade. Thank you Barry Teachers & Staff. A very thankful parent & grandparent.
