We have two kids at Bascomb. The school and teachers are amazing. Every teacher we've experienced truly cares about the kids. Our daughter was struggling a little with reading but they've worked with her and offered extra help and she's now reading above level. I also love all the extra activities: Cookies and Cocoa with Santa, the Bascomb Boogie, Donuts with Dad, High Five Fridays, Field Days, to name a few of my favorites.

I absolutely LOVE BASCOMB ELEMENTARY & I am so Sad to be moving to Suwanee. While my children was here the staff was very dedicated to meeting my children’s needs. I absolutely love the office staff. The principal is also amazing and hands on. One of my children has ADHD & the staff was extremely supportive on doing what needed to be done to help him and get him on board with an IEP. Hands down Bascomb Elementary is the Best school I have ever sent my children too. The teachers are also amazing and dedicated to teaching your children and meeting their needs. Thank you Bascomb Elementary you guys ROCK!!! A very special thank you to Mrs. Mercer, Mrs. Lee and Mrs. Aprile. It was truly a pleasure to share my children with you. Not one day goes by that my children doesn’t mention you. If you send your children here I promise you they are in GREAT HANDS.Signed,Briana Hampton aka MrsLatruth

Our experience at Bascomb was frustrating and stressful.

My child's teacher had poor communication skills. She usually doesn't respond to emails. On the rare occasion she does, the email is peppered with grammar and spelling errors.

This is our third year in this school and we couldn't be happier. My kids have had amazing teachers, who are trully commited to help them reach their potential. The quality of education at Bascomb is excellent. They have a good balance between academics and hands-on activities to keep children engaged and excited about learning.

We love Bascomb! We have had wonderful teachers and an overall great experience. The teachers are so involved and approachable. It's obvious that they genuinely care about their students. The new principal has had a great impact. Thankful for this community & this school!

As another parent expressed several years ago, this school caters very well to the above average and academically gifted students. I have several children in this category. They did fine at this school. However, if your child is average or below average on standardized tests (which one of my children is), It's a struggle. One teacher even suggested my child repeat the previous grade because of scores on subjective assessment tests she gave my child less than 2 weeks after school started. Bottom line, if you start your child in kindergarten when they are 6 years old or if they are truly academically gifted, this school is a good fit. If your child is average according to standardized testing, you could be in for a long and bumpy ride.

It's always scary to send your child off to school and trust them with strangers and hope they treat your child as a individual and to make sure their needs are being met and that it's the beginning of great school memories. My son started 1st grade last year at Bascomb . 1st grade he had Laura Wagner and she really helped him in so many ways.... He loves her. This year he has Donna Mihal. She has been wonderful as well and pushed to get him tested the gifted class. ( Thanks you Donna Mihal) So now he is a part of the AIM program and that teacher is Dianne McClure so far he is loving her class... They are always available by email to help us parents. I feel the teachers and staff watch over the kids like they were their own children. All the staff there has always been great to work with and most of all my son along with all of his friends he has at school always walks out at the end of the day with a smile on their faces. They have made the start of his education a wonderful one. Thanks to all the staff.....

We have had a horrible experience at this school. The principal is absolutely terrible at her job and is mean spirited. She is not kind and doesn't have students and families best interest in mind. She discredits parents voice of concern for their children and is more like Miss Harridan (from Daddy Daycare) than the caring real life principal she should be. What a disgrace...these children are in elementary school, not college.

Both of my sons went to Bascomb. If I were rating the school only on our time with our eldest son who finished 4th grade at Bascomb in 2011, I would give the school 5 stars. He tests very highly on the State required standardized testing and he is in the gifted program. All of his teachers K-4th grades were wonderful with him, particularly Mrs. Lord. In short, he's easy and he flew threw with flying colors. His brother, while still a bright child, had not been identified for the gifted program and in 3rd grade it was even recommended that he need extra help via the EIP program. We refused the program. At the end of 3rd grade he was tested through CRCT and far and away exceeded the standards in every category including reading. The point is this. The school caters beautifully to the easy, gifted kids. The kids that require a little teaching and patience seem to be stuck with the reputably more rigid teachers. This does nothing to groom them for a love of learning. Additionally, for two years in a row, in Kindergarten and 1st grade, my youngest had teachers who were out on Maternity Leave for the first 8-12 weeks of school. This added to the difficulty of transitioning into school.
