Principals will hide stuff from parents. Peoples kids who attend this school seem to not be taught manners at home. My son stays getting bullied or harassed by these bad lil kids who have no discipline.

I am very impressed with the dedication and involvement of the teachers and staff at Layer Elementary. My child loves going to school every day. The teachers are encouraging and take the time to make sure students feel comfortable and do their best.One of the things I appreciate most is the focus on community involvement. Layer actively encourages parents and families to participate in various activities, from volunteering in the classroom to attending school events. This collaborative approach creates a strong sense of community that supports the students and the school.

Amazing! The principal has very high positive energy. The staff is very friendly! The teachers are outstanding and work very hard to build relationships with their students and engage them in creative lessons that target what they need to grow and be successful.

Awful. If you want a principal that never learns your name and espouses the heavy favor of ill-behaved suburban white boys, please send your child here!

Wonderful school. My daughter is in second grade and has excelled immensely at Layer. Don't read reviews from 2006 to tell you how a school is... The administration are caring and gracious. The PTA is VERY active. The teachers are wonderful and so are the classmates!

This is a fantastic school! Exceptionally caring and inviting education environment. My son's teacher top notch, the school is in great condition and the student body is a great bunch of kids. An outstanding Seminole County school. We moved to Winter Springs specifically for the schools, and so far we could not be happier!

We moved from Orange County because we heard how great the schools were in Seminole County and THEY ARE! My son started attending Layer in August of 2013 and the change has been so positive for him! His teacher is AMAZING, CARING, and KNOWS how to deal with our son's Gifted Mind, as well as his Gifted Class teacher. It was a great relief that our move was not in vain. The Principal is super involved with the kids and the PTA creates awesome opportunities for families to get together: Movie night, Skate night, and a Valentine's Day party (which was off the hook!) My son is so happy there and learning so much he doesn't shut up when I pick him up in the afternoons! We couldn't be happier!

LOVE LOVE LOVE this school! I'm amazed at some of the poor reviews. My child is in the 2nd grade and this is his first year at Layer, due to rezoning. He has excelled greatly since attending Layer. He has a wonderful teacher who communicates perfectly. He loves going to school and learning new things. His teacher focuses on the positive and redirects the negative.

this is a great school i think that its a great school because it helps kids in need and what i like about it is that its very FUN!! and also the need to improve how the kids speak their language is not so great they say words they dont need to be saying and because if this is an 8 out of 10 school than they need to watch out for those languages thats just my words if you dont think so thats ok but still watch out!!! : }

Layer is an excellent school! I was just as nervous as the next parent when I had to send my oldest off to school. We researched Layer, Choices in Learning and a few private schools in the area. We chose Layer and have never looked back. This is our 5th year at Layer and it's been a great experience. The teachers are phenomenal. The principal demonstrates true leadership. She is fair and has the children's best interest in mind. My children are challenged and continue to excel. The teachers that teach art, music and science are fantastic. I have helped at the school and in the classroom on regular basis since my first started at the school. The staff is so welcoming and appreciative of the extra help. The teachers are happy and the turnover is minimal. I spoke with one teacher that was trying to get a job there, but said it was difficult to get in because of a wait list. This truly is a wonderful school!

My daughter was unfortunately required to go to this school because of Rezoning. This school is terrible! The teacher my daughter had only gave her math homework on Wednesday's . On top of that the. Homework consisted on only 2 problems. How does any child learn that way? Homework should be consistent. The learning environment is terrible. My daughter could not learn because the class was in in kaos. She was not challenged academically here. When I spoke to the principle she was unphased. She doesn't seem in tune with what's going on in her school. Additionally, i have noticed staff berate students and parents here. They staff that i have noticed always look unhappy--- no smiling -- like a prison. There is not an aire of positivity. The school had dropped in its rating because child's here are not doing well on FCAT. Seems to me that when teachers don't challenge their students they don't learn. While my child went here i was sick to my stomach now I am happy to say my daughter was accepted into a school that does have high educational standards. This has been my personal experience with Layer.
