The school is great love the spanish IB program. The leadership of the school seems to be lacking. The teachers are willing to put in more than there fair share and work with the parents teaching the leaders of tomorrow.

Ashley Elementary School staff are dedicated to the students, families of students and to each other. I recently spent a day at Ashely with my grandson for grandparents day and it was a wonderful experience. I was given the opportunity to eat lunch with my grandson, visit his main class room, go to art class, recess and to the library with him and each staff member I met made me feel very welcomed and it was clear that they were happy to have me there and loved each of the children. I also had the pleasure of attending an assembly featuring author Bob Shae who was very entertaining. I spent some time in the library where snacks were waiting for grandparents and stations set up to explain ways to volunteer at Ashley. The library staff are awsome and have the library set up to be inviting to all who enter. My overall view of Ashley Elementary School is very positive and feel like the staff have created a good atmosphere for learning.

I have two children at Ashley. My eldest is now in his third year in the Spanish immersion program and my youngest just started Pre-K. Both have had amazing teachers and thoroughly enjoy school. It's a joy to see them learning a second language naturally and it's enriched our lives to have classmates and teachers from so many different backgrounds. Ashley, like other Title One elementary schools in our county, needs more economic diversity and parent/community support to help compensate for things that the school system has been forced to cut back on. Ashley is the IB elementary school, so students who attend also get the first preference for slots at Paisley IB Middle School and in the Parkland IB program. The International Baccalaureate (http://www.ibo.org) is an internationally recognized diploma program that emphasizes inquiry-based learning and strives to create conscientious, global citizens.
