I'm a teacher, a parent, and a taxpayer. I read the negative comment left about our school district. This comment really saddens me that a parent feels this way. Our principal bends over backwards for his students, teachers, and parents. He's very dedicated to Winona ISD. The teachers I work with enjoy coming to school to work with such a great faculty and staff. The teachers and faculty love our students. We do everything we can to help each child be successful. Being in the education field is not an easy task, but it sure is rewarding. More great things are to come at Winona ISD. We are fortunate to welcome Mr. Mize to our district as superintendent. He has come to lead our district to the top. Parents who are not happy with our district, you've been invited many times to get involved in your child's education. Come volunteer, sign up to substitute, attend SHAC, become a member of PTA, attend teacher conferences and other meetings. You'll see that Mr. Snook, his teachers, aides, and other staff are working hard for your child. Stop griping because it's only making you bitter and old. Instead, join Winona ISD so that you can feel better about yourself. We have a lot of great kids and parents. I love Winona. My child will graduate from Winona! I will retire at Winona! And I'll continue living in the district so I can pay taxes to the school. Winona ISD ROCKS!!!!

I have been very happy with this school. The teachers and principal are very kind, and easy to talk to. I believe the only issue is that some of the parents aren't involved, and don't seem to care. My family loves this school!

I have been with Winona ISD for 20 years. We bend over backwards to help our students and parent. I have taught several grade levels. We do send papers home every Monday in their Red Folder. Parents are to look at the papers and sign the folder, send it back on Tuesday. It is amazing how parents can't handle that. We have more amazing parents than we do lazy ones. Our teachers call, text, email, and send letters home to communicate with the parents of their students. I have sent letters home to parents to have meeting with parents about the students educational needs such as: 504 meetings, RTI meetings, and parent conferences. I have more no shows than I do show up. Yes, we send letters home and we call or text a reminder. Still no show!! However, it seems to be the no show parents that are complaining the most. Yes, I know the parent complaining, yes they were a no show for the end of year meeting. Same ole same ole complaints. I have had 3 children graduate from Winona ISD. I have not always agreed with decisions teachers have made concerning my children. However, I did meet with the teacher to hear their reasoning for their decision. In some cases, my student didn't tell me the whole story or it was a complete misunderstanding on both sides. No we are not perfect, but we do work hard for our students and their parents to provide the best education for their student. However our parents need to be more involved. Instead of staying at home, come volunteer and read to our students. Not just your students class. Spread your wings and see what is happening in other grade levels. I invite you to come do lunch duty. Recess duty or car duty. Try helping out and see what all is involved in a school day. Try subbing!! That would be an eye opener!!!

I had 3 kids go from 1st grade to 12th grade. As with any school I did not always agree with everything. But Winona always treated me and my family fairly. As you can see by comment left here some agree with me others do not. I can tell you from my point of view the ones who complain the most were not around much. They talk about never seeing papers from there kids or from the school. It was because they never took the time to look. Can't tell you the times I helped on field trips and some child did not get to go because a parent could not sign a paper and send it back. So don't believe everything you see here including me. Winona tries hard to do right by the kids and in the end that is what matters.

We love Winona ISD! We moved here from a much larger school district and were nervous that we wouldn't like it. From day one the kids loved it! We have nothing but good things to say about the staff from the HS to the Elementary. I want to thank Mr. Snook and his staff for a job well done, I've seen first hand that they love each and every kid. Also our new superintendent Mr. Mize, he's bringing a lot of new opportunities to the kids and as a parent I'm beyond thrilled to know that our kids will receive the best there is to offer! Thank you Winona ISD for doing what you do everyday for not only our kids but every kid! Go Wildcats!!!

Throughout the years I've had 4 children go through this school. The teachers and principal are fabulous, they listen to you AND your child, they do provide graded work home for parents to see, they are always there to listen to any concerns parents have. The ONLY problem I have seen is parents not wanting to be involved with their child's education until they start failing and then they put the blame on the school. You can't just be concerned when it's convenient for you!! Overall I love this school and the faculty !!

This school is terrible. The teachers don't seem to work with the parent at times. They give grades and never never seen graded school work home to parents. This has been reported numerous times to the principal and even had to report it to the superintendent. It's like some of the teachers do whatever they want. How is a child to learn something if you don't tell them the right answers. It is very suspect to me as a parent if you put a bad grade down and never show them the child's work. Did the child even get the grade? We'll never return to winona isd again. Winona isd Elementary/Intermediate was horrible for my child and me as well.
