The teachers here go above and beyond to make kids feel welcomed and loved. They are the bedrock of the school even through some leadership changes over the years. The school feels safe and positive. The communication with parents is clear and timely. I have two kids here and both are thriving, I am so pleased with their progress. Go public school!

Jefferson is a community that takes care of it's little ones like family. My kids have thrived there, felt safe, cared for, and learned to speak Spanish fluently, while also being challenged in other academic areas.

They go above and beyond to protect our kids. The kids come first always. Wonderful school!

Very much a "teach to the test" school and obsessive about "standards-based education," even though there's talk about project-based and and hands-on. Although the fourth graders might get a little more of that, the younger kids don't. I asked a teacher how a typical day is different at STEM, and she told me "We don't really do anything different [sic] from a regular school, other than having a theme for gym and art class that matches what the kids are learning." Principal gave an info session to parents and kids that demonstrated the poor teaching techniques - used terms, acronyms, and abbreviations without defining or explaining them, death by Powerpoint, rushed through information, and did stop to assess whether we understood what he was saying. I expect strong leadership to practice what they teach. No parents at the info session.
