My daughter is in 3rd grade at Holmes. She seems to enjoy her class and has no complaints. As far as myself goes, as a parent I see organization is lacking. Whenever I call the school no one has ever answered the phone. I reported my daughter off school from being sick last week and I left a message and never got a call back. Also my daughter started school there the first of October because we just moved to the area. I've never gotten a calendar or student handbook sent home. On the first day that she started, there was an early dismissal that day and no one told me about it. I was out getting groceries 2 hours before I thought she was supposed to get off and I come home and she's at the neighbors house. Thankfully our neighbors were nice and accommodating to my daughter. But what if I didn't have the neighbors around? My daughter would've sat outside our house for 2 hours! I was extremely angered by this. That school needs to get it together.

We are new at Holmes school and so far it is good. I have 3 children attending this school and they are adjusting quite easily. I can only speak for the first two months. My kids haven't report any teasing or bullying. The teachers are very nice and care for the kids. The only thing is that they have started a new math program that is a little challenging for the staffs as well as the students. My only complaint would be the size of the classrooms(25-27). I will post again once my kids have spent a whole year at the school.

Children are labeled very quickly at Holmes. The whole time they are there, their treatment is based on that. Not child oriented.

My daughter needs help! no one at this school has ever helped her she has been overlooked k-3. She's being pushed aside. She is below grading level she hates school and the only solution they can give me is to hold her back a grade. My other daughter is being bullied on a daily basis. we can't get her math teacher to explain what she can not understand. instead she gives her zeros for turning in homework blank with a note that says please help her. They can't understand why a 3rd and 5th grader hate school so much. The parking lot is a mess. If you want to drop your kids off, they will be late. They eat lunch in the gym. If you have an overweight child, they encurage it with 900 cal. lunches and a healthy breakfast that consists of rotten fruit.

The Guidance counselor needs to be more involved and less of a critic towards the children. Learning methods need to be worked on to provide the children with better understanding of what they are learning allowing them to be children at the same time. They have homework everyday, even weekends however I do not see where it helps them learn. Teachers need to be more willing to help children who are in need. There are too many teachers that are mean to the children. This school has more children who are late/tardy than any school I have ever seen, there has to be a reason. I see them acting like they are all about learning and no fun. I see our kids learning very little and having no fun. In 5 yrs my child has never had a field trip!
