As a parent of a 2nd grader and Kinder, Alderman gets an A+. Due to our family's recent moves for work, I have experience with three elementary schools (in 3 years) and Alderman outperforms on multiple levels. The teacher-student ratio is great, the school administration, leadership and individual teachers go above and beyond in communication efforts with parents. Students are provided opportunities to challenge themselves. Alderman is a champion of diversity. We couldn't be happier.

We are new to Wilmington and Alderman is our neighborhood school. We couldn't be happier with our choice. My daughter's teacher would be a stand-out educator at any school in the country, the class sizes are small, she is getting individual attention and every teacher, support staff and administrator in the school knows her name. They quickly recognized that my daughter was more advanced in reading and they are offering her differentiated instruction with the next grade level, without me having to argue or advocate for it. I see the diverse student body as a great asset for this school, and the culture of respect and community they are building there is incredible. We love Alderman!

Alderman Elementary is a fantastic school and has been a great fit for our daughter, who is excelling in the AIG program. The student population is very diverse. Academics are a priority, but the school has also embraced a focus on character education that is having a wonderful impact on students and families. The Principal and school staff are very attentive and demonstrate genuine concern for the students. The PTA is extremely active, and many parents are involved in their children s classrooms and facilitate school-wide activities, which helps create a welcoming and supportive environment. Alderman is rising above the score-driven challenges facing public schools and continues to provide high academic expectations for all students, and the administrators and staff have done a great job of making the best of the MESS that our legislators have made of public education in North Carolina. Leadership at Alderman is shared between administrators, teachers and parents, and there is a definite sense of the village philosophy in all aspects of curriculum and programming. We are PROUD to be Soaring Eagles!

I am very pleased with Alderman Elementary. My son is in the first grade there and is excelling in all areas. He had a great kindergarten teacher and has a great first grade teacher as well. The principal really challenges the teachers to get the school scores up and to prepare them for middle school and beyond - even in the first grade. Everyone has been very friendly and involved. We love Alderman!
