The teachers and staff are willing to go out of their way to help motivated students achieve their full potential. The key here is "MOTIVATED." Some students do not take equal responsibility for their education and fail to maximize their learning opportunities. While many schools are minimizing the arts - HMS stands 100% behind their arts / music programs. In addition to the teachers on staff - there are parent helpers and student teachers in almost all of the classrooms to help the students. If a student is having trouble with a subject and needs help - all they have to do is ask and be willing to do a little work.

Hall Memorial doesn't seem to care very much about the students education. The principal and teachers care too much about how the students look and everything. If only they'd care about their emotions! I went to HMS and was bullied. I'd tell the principal, teacher, and almost all adults I could. Nothing happened. they didn't care about how unstable the kids were. I'd have to say though, many of the teachers tried. Ms. Collela was very caring and as was Mr. Hamilton. Mr. Hamilton was always my favorite teacher too! He made class fun. A lot of the teachers were great and I hope they don't change much of the staff! I'm wishing that the school will try to care more about the students in every way.

School that is lacking in Academics standards. Other neighboring towns expect more from their students and parents. They falsify grade on report cards, stating a 2 is approaching grade level but when I inquired they told me my child was almost a year behind in that subject. Year after year they have done this. The administration is afraid to get parents involved and they keep parent involvement out of the school. The school relies on the Military stance, " Don't tell unless they ask". they will not tell you how your child is doing unless you ask. You have to extract information constantly . The district needs a major overhaul, were are losing pupil count because people are not moving or buying in Willington.

This school has excellent teachers and wonderful academic programs, with updated, modern technology. I would recommend this school above all other middle schools in the country.
