This little hidden gem of a school is great! Teachers, staff, and the kids are all happy to be there. Not to mention how involved their PTA is. They’re always having fun events and doing extra special things for their students. I would strongly recommend this elementary school to all parents.

Great school. Great principle who is involved with the kids, outside with the staff and helps with traffic and you can tell he works very hard and takes pride in the school and how it runs and safety. The front staff is always very friendly and remembers the kids by names and parents and quick with responding to voicemails and messages. Which is very important with communication to the parents. Every single person from the lunchroom employees to Principles are friendly and I hear the kids all the time say bye to many. The fact that each employee goes above and beyond and have left a great impression with the kids, says a lot. Every single teacher my child has had has been great. Caring and great teachers. Each have their own way of running their classrooms, but we have never had any issues.Communication on their app with the teachers or staff is quick and responsive. I know friends who took their children out of private schools and love Mills Elementary and said the curriculum is the same and happy they have found mills.Communication is great and has been for the last 3 years.Very informative meetings with the principle and teachers., never rushed.Clean.Caring.Clean classrooms.Great Staff.Great teachers. They have taken covid very serious.

My kids love this school. Parents and teachers are so friendly. We have made lifelong friends. The school uses positive reinforcement and reward kids for good behavior by using their tickets for "dunk a teacher," park day, pizza parties, etc.. My 7 year old dunked the Principal last month with only one ball and the whole school screamed with excitement. They also had a color run at the end of the year and the kids loved getting so dirty. My kids came home with blue and orange hair. The school does help kids with special needs, but the parents need to ask for an IEP meeting. They have an excellent RSP teacher there.

This school is in desperate need of funding and staff changes starting with the principal. She is new to the school and under qualified. Although numerous complaints have been made regarding the school schedule, parking, school traffic, updates from teachers, she does not see this as her problem or responsibility. The teachers, bless their hearts, have more students than they can handle. I rarely get a response back from the teacher when I have written a note. In fact on the last day of school a note for the ANOTHER CHILD was pinned on my child. The fact that they hadn't learned his name in the entire school year was alarming to me.

This school definitely needs improvement it does not offer a mild to moderate class and children with special needs and have to be segregated at a nearby school called LongFellow. No reason why we have to pay such high taxes and this school does not offer a class that they are entitled to have at their home school.

Mill School and Technology Academy is an ecellent school. The amount of technology at Mill, beyond surpasses that of any other school in the city of Whittier. From Smartboards to microphone necklaces that amplify a teachers voice to be heard anywhere in the classroom, to ipod touches, every child and their unique needs are being met with the aid of these technological learning devices. Not to mention, this next school year will be the 3rd year of students to participate in the 1 to 1 Apple laptop program, in which each student has the opportunity of owning their very own laptop. Words cannot explain what my child can do and so quickly on the laptop. Keynote, Podcasts, Comic Life, Pages, and Garage Band are just a few programs and applications that our 3rd, 4th,and 5th graders at Mill are using. As to the homework comment made below, September is much too early in the school year to note lack of homework. I have 2 children at Mill, one of which has been there 5 years and lack of homework has never been an issue. There is a high expectation on reading and mathematics. Lastly, Mill students are exposed to and learn about famous artists in their monthly Art Masters program.

Some teachers are mean. The people who work in the office are super nice though.
