I have a disability and going to this school was a complete nightmare. Other students make fun of me and treat me like I am dumb. Teachers and counselors treat me the same, they act like I need help 24/7 when I don't. They wouldn't let me use the restroom on my own. I couldn't even get to class on my own without someone to go with me. They take away your independence and expect you to just accept it. Worst school ever. I would give 0 stars if I could.

The academic side of La Serna has been amazing in my sons 2+ years at the school. Now for the bad, The athletics department is mediocre at best, unless it is Football, then they go all out. The school supplies the Baseball teams a total of $600 a year (per our head coach) which doesn't even cover the cost of baseballs for the year. Our Athletic Director has booked 2 (of the 4 we have had so far) games at the same time as Cross Country meets which at least the first time we found out the morning of the game, 2 hours prior. Today we had a team from Baldwin Park, their coaches and parents, the umpire and our team, coaches and parents there. Baseball of course got bumped until 11:30.As a business owner, incompetence in your field is unacceptable, but I guess when you have tenure and are the (winning) Football coach you can be incompetent as Athletic Director and keep your position.

When I went to La Serna we had a fantastic A+++ art department. You worked on a portfolio to show in art school or college level art courses. And you had competitions to compete with other students for art scholarships. We use to practice our language skills when we went on field trips to places that spoke German, French or Japanese.

Counselor that is assigned to my daughter absolutely worthless (Kelly Strong) never returns emails and always seems to be on vacation. Thankfully the school has Marco Ramirez who is great at responding but unfortunately has to carry the load for lazy counselors like her. So far my daughter has had a few great teachers and a few not so great (I was extremely disappointed with the Art teacher there, but her English teacher is amazing). She's a freshman so let's see how the year goes.

I am a student at la serna high school. Soon to be sophomore. And I honestly love la serna. They're so many amazing teachers and staff, I met a lot of great people. My teachers are very helpful and resourceful. I love la serna's clubs and activities. If I could go back to my freshman year and start all over, I totally would.
