This school sucks, the bathroom stinks, the rooms have no windows, the teachers yell at the kids for doing nothing, they don't know how to teach, the school is all white and literally feels like a jail, I've been to 3 different schools (high schools) and in my experience this is the WORST school I've ever attended, the only good thing about this school is the baking class. I've been to better schools in West Virginia and other states, where the bathrooms don't smell bad, where they don't mark you absent if you're late for a minute after the bell rings. I don't even want to come to this school and I hope I can move soon because it's terrible. The school has a lot of stupid rules where it feels like they put a lot of pressure on the students you can’t even wear a hat.

As a parent of a former student who now goes to a different school and a student who is currently there this school is horrible. The school score is manipulated by powers that b. If ur good at sports they will help them but also let them get away with whatever. The teachers have ALL lost there passion. I followed the score and put my kids in it and realized that was dumb. I am not being too specific becuz I would hate for this review to affect my student. The teachers r vindictive, immature, and unhelpful and mean, some r the bullies. It is a job with security for the employees of this school not somthing they want to do for the children. I have been to many schools all over the country and I would say this school is worse than some schools in bad parts of L.A. Send ur kid to another school or go in debt to send them to private school, it will b well worth it in the long run and better for ur student.

My experience was ok but the crippling thing is that they allow students or encourage students to make false accusations on other students like me. A female student I was friends with made false stalking accusations on me and other false complaints on me. I don’t know how things exactly went down but I almost got expelled and in trouble with the law and this was just my freshman year. I do believe that it was all either faked or the female got false stalking reports of me stalking her by other teachers. Manipulation and fabrication was likely at play without my knowledge. This is the main reason I give this school such a low rating. What happened to me was likely plotted by the school. Anyone that understands this review this is just a warning before deciding to go to this school because the same thing can happen to anyone else. Be aware that there is no justice for anything like this that could happen to anyone other than me. Anyone that does go to this school have a bunch of support on your side because you will get false accusations on any of you most likely by females. Don’t be friendly with any females unless you know everything about them and vice versa because they will get you in trouble.

Now, as a student, and a current student, I would like to point out that this rating is not because of the lack of an education I am receiving. I have full confidence that this school is doing quite fine with giving children an appropriate amount of things to build off of for later life and / or college, and I am pleased to report that there are quite a few decent and even good-humored teachers among the staff here, not that there aren't one or two that can't tell when a certain individual needs help, when to put their foot down, or when to let their foot up. Other than that, the reason this 'grade' (heheh- I mean, the star rating) is so low is because new joiners of this school are not given any level of appropriate help from anyone to feel comfortable. The teachers do not care, the counselors are scarce and distracted as it is, and the majority of students are cruel, much crueler than the ones at my previous schools which were not only smaller (therefore less likely to have good people, you would think) but also had quite a good amount of violence going on. There is absolutely no opportunity for new kids whatsoever, it feels as if you had to grow up here to have any place, and this is not fair (it wasn't like I wanted to come here to begin with, now, was it?). I am entering the second nine weeks and have yet to feel comfortable, even as a remarkably intelligent student who had been very thrilled at the idea of meeting people that would share their interests (my prior school that was smaller had quite a few people that did, but now, apparently, even in this bigger place, there are none). But you can form your own opinion.

I find the staff at WPHS to be callous and immature. It must be nice to have a teaching job where "students pay for the teachers mistakes"

WPHS is an excellent school. As a former student, I have excelled in school. The school has an excellent learning environment. The teachers and staff members are willing to listen and help you in any way possible. The fine and performing arts department is one of the best in the tri-state area. Wheeling Park offers an abundance of extracurricular activities. The career and technical department offers a great curriculum and readies students for the workforce.

This school may very well have more opportunities and classes than other schools offer, but the environment and attitude of the students and staff and horrific! There is not one truly nice person in that entire school. Everyone fights all the time, people are rude, and so are the teachers. As a current student, I am appalled at the way the teachers favor the cute, skinny, popular kids who barely have a brain. I can say my own teachers have personally offended me many times. Also, the food given at the school is terrible. I have been given food poisoning from that food before. I certainly hope someone who is associated with this school will see it and realize that things need to be changed. It is my last year there and I cannot wait to get out of there.

High School has never been a cake walk for anyone but this school is horrible. We moved here out of state and my oldest son attended WP. He became severely depressed, developed anger issues and was physically assaulted on several occasions. In our home state he was one of the popular kids and had a lot of friends and always made honor roll. When I tried to get support from the staff of this school I found them cliquish and were only interested in continuing to be on their own egotistical agendas. It has been the worst experience of my parenting life and has cost my son his self esteem, his ambitions and his grades. I wish I had the money to send him to private school instead of leaving him victim to this "staff" of people.
