Year 1 and 2 the school was great. My son received services for his ASD. We loved his teacher… she was fantastic. Then year 3 the school decided my son no longer needed services, so they reevaluated him and dropped everything (they kept one service in a group setting for 20 mins twice a week). He started declining after that. Month after month his behavior got worse. I pushed and pushed to get services back until they did a form evaluation again. After this they determined that he was 1 point above in 3 groups placing him in the “average”. Had they given him 1 less point in any of these categories they would have deemed services necessary. Not thrilled with the entire experience.

It’s fine/ok if you have a standard learner, but current teachers and special needs staff are lacking skills. The admin resist outside behavioral support coming into the building. We found a few good teachers on staff, but my student lost recess, was shamed for typical adhd behavior, and learned to hate school here.

The Westford School is a small K-8 in a beautiful setting with a strong faculty and a dynamic and talented new principal (as of 2012). This is a caring community where every child matters and strong relationships are forged among students/faculty/parents. As a K-8, middle-schoolers thrive and avoid many social pitfalls of stand-alone middle schools. They make confident, successful, strong transitions to H.S. where they historically perform very well. We have H.S. choice in this town, also, which is a great asset as there are top high schools in the state nearby. The school is a Vermont best-kept secret with extremely involved parents enriching the program with nordic skiing, a Nature curriculum, a robotics club, etc. Our biggest challenge has been declining enrollment, which has me (a parent) motivated to write this review. It's time to get the word out. Check out Westford. It's a great place to raise a family for many, many reasons.
