I've had great experience with two children at Duffy. The school is fun, well managed and the teachers are very engaged in the individual needs of each child.

Duffy has provided our children with an excellent education. The teachers, staff, and principal are all friendly and go out of their way to make you feel welcome.

We have been a Duffy Family since we moved to West Hartford in 2010. We have to say with a child who has gone K-5, another now in 4th grade and one due for Kindergarten next year. We have been nothing but extremely happy with the administration, PTO and community. The students are wonderful and teachers are some of the best in West Hartford. If you are looking for a school in West Hartford, Duffy is a noticeable stand out!

This is the best school in West Hartford! My children received a top-notch education and the community is warm and welcoming.

My family has been part of the Duffy Community for the past 6 years. We have found the administration and teaching staff to be incredibly warm, supportive, and dedicated to encouraging our children in every aspect of their elementary school experience. There has been a focus on positive behavior incentives where compassion, respect and responsibility for all students is reinforced. We love Duffy School and feel so lucky our children have had learning experiences academically, socially, physically, and creatively.

I have to agree with the previous review - parental involvement is discouraged at every turn. In fact, you may never know if your child is sent to the principal's office since no one will tell you. They will expect your child to be "accountable" and inform you. This leads into my next point - the administration have their heads in the clouds. They have unrealistic expectations, although those goals could be met if parents and administration worked together - but that won't be tolerated. The teachers so far have been fine but, with larger class sizes, if your child is bright, they will get bored and be allowed to stray and lose focus and possibly get into trouble which, as mentioned before, you may never find out about. The parents tend to want to be involved, but the principal is too egomaniacal to nurture that team work potential. It's a shame. Looking for a proviate school at this point.

Yes, the Administration is not warm and fuzzy, and the class sizes are big, but the teachers are great! K-5, my oldest child had only one not-so-good experience with a teacher, but the rest went well above and beyond the call and truly cared about "their kids". Yes, the building is in need of a renovation, but the staff blooms where they have been planted. As with most WH neighboorhood-based schools, there is an active group of parents as well, and the PTO puts on some good events. My family never misses the Springtime Duffy Fair!
