Our two daughters attended Christ Lutheran school from age 2 (in diapers, thanks for the assist with the potty training!) until 8th grade, our youngest is graduating this year. I wanted to take the time to write a review after attending the most recent Open House this year and realizing how sad I was that we will no longer be at the school with such frequency. It really is an amazing school with a beautiful and secure campus, small class size, wonderful teachers and an attentive administrative staff. Both our girls received a comprehensive education, and the older daughter was well-prepared for AP classes in high school. Standardized testing consistently shows each class tests above grade level, and I was surprised by the testing this year that factually demonstrated no learning loss over the COVID shut-down across the school. The school works hard to provide a quality education and yet keep tuition costs reasonable. We compared tuition across several private schools in the area and when tuition costs are compared when factoring in the "extras" like day care, sports fees, lunches etc., the school compares very favorably. Although COVID prevented some of the outdoor education trips for our younger daughter, my older daughter still remembers her class trips to Yosemite, Catalina and the East Coast trip fondly. Both girls have benefited from having been at Christ Lutheran and matriculating with a core group of friends they have known since pre-school. The parent community is actively involved in the school. Overall, the school is a small family and we will miss it!

Great program! We had my kids there for preschool and did our due diligence in looking for elementary schools. My kids are doing amazing. From reading to math, to STEM, they exceed my expectations and doing way better than surrounding schools. Had my boys at Foothill Christian before, night and day. Ms Annas was amazing during COVID. School got a waiver 2 months into pandemic and their protocols are top of the line. In this day and age, with the pandemic, I trust them fully with my 2 boys. They are way ahead!

This school is so far behind public schools it’s almost better to send your child there. The language arts program is so out dated that when I put my child in public school they were so behind. I heard they updated the math program to the same program as public schools so that is a plus. They have iPads for the classroom but don’t let students use them and teachers don’t seem to like having them in the classroom. The principal is very unsupportive and only favors the parents that are donating a lot of money to the school. Enrollment also keeps dropping which doesn’t look good for the school and their programs.

Worst school. Please save your money. This school is good at putting on a show for parents to fool the parents. Many parents had left and saw through them. Their test scores on the web site is falsified and teachers/administration lie through their teeth. They will not tell you if your child is hurt or injured, but to cover up the accidents. Academically the students are behind comparing to public schools. Teachers are not working hard to teach.

Our daughter has excelled at CLS and is ahead of her grade in all aspect highly recommend CLS great values, curriculum and staff.

CLS has academically provided my daughter above our expectations she is reading and writing 3 times above a public school and her proficiency skills are above average. Highly recommend this school

I have two children (grade school & middle school) attending CLS and they both have had a great learning experience. Most of the teachers are very caring and nurturing. The teachers they have/had, have taken a great interest in making sure that the children understand the curriculum. Mrs. Curtis, Mrs. Annis, and Mrs. Smith (1st, 3rd & 4th grades) are in my children's opinions, the best teachers. They know how to capture the students imagination and make learning fun. My middle schooler has really enjoyed all the outdoor education trips which begin in the 4th grade. The children are taught to be well rounded and the school takes part in a few community charitable events. If your child is advanced in math, they will allow them to take math with the higher grades if the child tests into it. All the teachers are credentialed and most have a Master s Degree. Each classroom does have a teacher s aide. As with any school, parent involvement plays a key role in a child s academic achievement. The campus is fully gated and they do have cameras throughout the school (which unfortunately is a good thing now a days). The school also has a great PE and after school sports programs.

My daughter's first full year at CLS' preschool has been extremely positive. After a poor experience in another preschool in Walnut, we chose CLS based on the strong reviews elsewhere. From our initial meeting, our hopes were confirmed. Almost all the preschool teachers exude the caring and attitude that you expect from a preschool teacher. Balance between play, teaching of basics such as writing, letters, numbers; exercise, and Christ-centered teaching. Weekly homework assignments for my 4 year old. There will be many requests to participate in fund raising endeavors or for parental participation, but this is par for the course with private schools. Kudos to Miss Jennifer and Miss Susana in Room 2!

I attended this school way back in the 80s and in to the early 90s when I graduated. I now have a child of my own who is attending preschool there. When I started searching for a preschool I implicitly asked if it was a developmental or an academic-based school. I was told by the director that it was mostly academic, with some developmental. I appreciated that, but what I am finding is that it is quite the opposite. My child is beyond most of the class and is bored most of the time. The "homework" that they send home is not preparing him for anything other than matching baby animals to their mothers. I am paying for the time there, but then having to teach my academics-hungry child at home... not worth the money unless you have a child who is struggling with basic stuff like colors and shapes.
