My granddaughter is a 1st grader who talks freely about her teacher, classmates and daily experiences in positive ways, and grown out of her "shell" into a bubbly little schoolgirl. The curriculum and daily schedule is challenging, diverse and structured just enough to make her look forward to each day. Though she has been in "school/preschool" for 4 years, this is the happiest I have seen her. Good job St. Anne's !!

The music class has no real instrument or vocal training. It is a yearly group performance class. Core music material ought to be included: such as notes, instrument / voice types in order to develop individual untapped abilities and strengths. Fundraising should buy actual music tools/instruments for the children to learn truly life-lasting music skills. Unfortunately, the first grade teacher with vast experience in private and public education will be retiring. A non-licensed educator (not required in private schools) will teach the 1st grade, but also one who lacks the experience that we expect in an expensive private school: a mom who was a teacher substitute. I wonder who else applied for the job. A male teacher would have made a nice change in school dynamics. What is most bothersome is the lack of confidentiality about children challenges amongst teachers and teacher substitutes. Some have made very indiscreet comments about the children! Most of them lack basic child psychology training, e.g. instead of removing the child from the classroom for X or Y and speaking to them privately, several teachers including the principal humiliates them in front of his/her classmates!

One would be wrong to assume that in this school money spent = higher-class education. Unfortunately, this is not so. Frankly, most of the teachers are unsophisticated and quite rude. It is clear that the teachers are in need of a proper etiquette class. Recently, one of them came out shouting, stating that so and so parent should not do this and that; embarrassing the child in front of classmates! Another teacher was complaining about a child and his mother, where several other non-related parties could hear! Most notes sent to teachers are responded borderline rude, most times without the dutiful niceties of, Thank you or Dear etc. The principal, teachers and staff's approach in handling children's inappropriate behavior or simple challenges is having a negative impact on the children self-esteem. More importantly, the lack of one- on- one feedback with parents is destroying whatever good they may have academically. After all, if one wanted mediocre student feedback and teacher involvement, we already have the public school system to serve that purpose.

The unending fundraising is right! Unreal and I found out about the tuition "adjustment" of $400+ if I cannot volunteer to help in the school which was not disclosed prior to our enrollment! I too agree with the other parent regarding the new 1st grade teacher. Why should we pay top dollar for inexperienced teachers???

unending fundraising since the 1st day of school. Minimal communication from teachers regarding curriculum. Very strict student policies. NO PLAYGROUND!! Children play in asphalt parking lots. They are not allowed to wear sneakers in gym class. Excellent afterschool program. Principal is poorly organized and borders on the insincere or uninformed- I felt like I was told anything I wanted to hear in order to get our enrollment, and found out the truth later.

My son currently attends St Anne's (for 4 years now) and we have been very satisfied with the quality of the education. We wanted a nurturing environment with standards, where attainable expectations are placed on the children regarding behavior and performance. While other schools in town are less expensive, we wanted one that was more loosely tied to its associated parish/self directed and willing to pay a bit more for that independence. We wanted solid fundamentals, a responsive teaching staff and varied learning opportunities. Our son studies music, art, as well as all the fundamentals (math, reading, history, science, etc.). They place a strong emphasis on public speaking and reading in early grades. Comments regarding fund raising are true, but frankly true of all the local schools. Parent involvement is high and we frequently see all the parents in my son's grade. We will be leaving the Webster area soon and leaving St. Anne's is one of the sadder parts of our change. We've enjoyed the staff. Sister Constance is always available to parents and has been very supportive of my son. I would not hesitate to recommend this school to others moving into the area.
