My son graduated today from Benway School and it was so emotional for so many reasons. One of them being that we will miss Benway School tremendously. They embraced my son when he transitioned to their school in 2016. He was struggling with his mental and emotional health which affected his academics as well. I wish I could describe in detail the nurturing, care, assistance when in crisis, and academic supports he has received throughout these years. I can say he has come such a long way and is now off to college. Our family is forever grateful to Benway School. They were our village in raising our son. My son is a testament to the difference Benway can make in a child's life.

I chose Benway for my son Antonio, (dx ASD/ODD/ADHD) because I was looking for a school that could handle his behaviors with compassion and consistency, while still providing the necessary educational and academic supports. The thing I most liked about the time Antonio was at Benway is that teachers we encountered were always kind, patient and genuinely caring. One thing that really surprised me was the personal attention and interest the staff shows towards Antonio's holistic growth. Antonio began attending Benway in 4th grade, so we had experience with various placements. At Benway, we found the teaching staff created a welcoming environment in which our son was able to grow into his authentic self. When he returned to district in the middle of 10th grade, he was much better prepared to access the curriculum and perform at, and in many cases above, grade level. While social skills continue to be an area for development for Antonio, who is now a rising college freshman, he did learn to be more socially aware and to interact with his peers in an appropriate manner. Academically Antonio has built on the foundation Benway provided, been able to take gen-ed honors and AP classes, and will graduate in the top 15-20% of his class, with impressive GPA and SAT scores. He credits Benway with teaching him to regulate his behavior through direct teaching and clear consequences.I am so grateful for our time at Benway and feel that it was integral to Antonio's remarkable progress. I would highly recommend Benway to other parents.

Our son was having difficulties returning to 7th grade post Covid. His home district was not equipped to provide necessary staff and tools to support education that he needs. After sending him home for the last 6 weeks of the school year with no support for his educational needs, and being told he should be on medication before returning, we decided to take control of his educational future and remove him from District. At that point we started looking for schools in an environment that would work with him not punish him by suspension and not providing a teacher for his needs. After much back and forth with the district which wanted him to return for 8th Grade we were able to press the district to provide us and our son with Options. Our initial interview meeting at Benway we met with staff and was given a tour. We had a good feeling about it and our son was able to spend a day at Benway. The small class size and less Clinical environment was something that we liked. We visited and evaluated 5 schools and the decision that was reached was to go with Benway.Following his transition to Benway he had a good first marking period then he fell back during the second marking period due to a number of issues. We discussed with the staff and counselors a temporary leave for evaluation, and all agreed. The results were excellent. At mid-year we had our son assessed outside of school by medical personnel, and he was removed from medication and excelled moving forward at Benway. Now he is ready to return to high school midway and that was our plan from the beginning. The teachers and staff worked with us and our son to produce a transition plan that we felt was best for him to perform freshman year. He has grown significantly since attending Benway and loves the field trips and food incentives for his great performance behavior and academic achievement and now has confidence and academic goals that he has outlined for himself. We are so grateful and pleased with his teachers and staff for the open communication that we have with them, and they all truly care very much for him. They do a great job for the kids, and we definitely made the right decision for our son to attend Benway. We are so proud of him!Thank you Benway!

Benway has been more than just a school for us - it has become a nurturing environment that has significantly contributed to our son Aaron’s academic journey and personal growth. Before attending Benway, we struggled to find a school that was personalized and comprehensive for Aaron’s needs. The level of acceptance and understanding he received at Benway, even in the face of challenges, exceeded our expectations. The staff at Benway goes above and beyond to create a supportive and inclusive atmosphere. The tailored approach for each student has allowed Aaron to thrive not just academically but emotionally as well. Aaron has been able to foster a sense of belonging and self-assurance with noticeable improvements in his overall well-being. We are so grateful for the positive impact Benway School has had on Aaron’s life. Their dedication has made such a difference in our lives and inspires hope for a brighter future.

At first the school seem great but it is not i really don’t know how they call themselves a special education for behavioral disabilities school because the staff is very incompetent when it comes to students with behavioral issues.. since my son been here he’s been more emotional, frustrated, and unfocused then he has ever been, i feel the school is doing the opposite of what was expected to help him. This will be my son last year and we will looking for another school to provide him a safe environment welcoming environment that he can strive and Learn in… one more thing the school does not take bullying serious at all they will allow your child to be bullied picked on or hit on without really any consequences

I would keep your child far away from this school. Bullying and violence is not taken seriously and the education is subpar at best.

Please reconsider if you plan on sending your child to this school. They do not take bullying and violence seriously. The education is below standards as well. This school did more harm than good. My child is suffering because of it.

This school has a very cohesive staff. They go above and beyond to work with the students and meet them where they are at. The program always has something new as they continually evaluate the needs of the student.

I found that this school was highly incompetent and uneducated in dealing with children with behavioral issues. They refused to listen to me as the parent as what was best for my child and take that into consideration. They are completely uneducated in what constitutes a child as in "crisis" - due to their lack of resources and inability to handle a situation they falsely identify a child as in crisis, rather than appropriately assessing the situation. Not only that, they never once attempted to discuss the situation with the parent! I highly highly discourage anyone from EVER considering this school. I can not stress enough the lack of education these staff members have.
