The staff at this school is absolutely amazing. They all care about the students, make sure the students have a good experience, teach the kids that it is ok to be different and to not bully or make fun of others. Great support team for children with developmental disabilities as well.

At a glance, this is one of the most impressive buildings I have ever seen for an elementary school. I was also impressed that they take this "school of the future" approach with having pods instead of classrooms, iPads, arts integrated into their studies, and YES I believe arts should be in school. But here's what you don't see under the artsy facade: disorganization like you wouldn't believe. Disorganization at the parent pick up line, disorganization when you call the office, disorganization when you ask them to send homework home when your child is sick (we still can't ever pick up homework!), disorganization in the fact that there are NO TEXTBOOKS. NO BOOKS on math. NO BOOKS in science. Sure it's great to have the "experience" but how are these kids going to study their math at home when they have NO REFERENCE? "Go to the website" they say... what website??? IXL is a website created for kids to study but it doesn't pertain to their exact unit or skill they are covering at each particular school. If your kid is sick and misses school, they miss the "experience". So catching up is impossible. I miss textbooks.

My child loves Summit View. They have grown to be more Arts focused which she enjoys. This year she has been involved in drama lessons, experiences live musical performances at lunch; we've also seen emphasized learning about famous artists, musicians and historical figures. They encourage individualized learning - she can advance through reading at higher levels and work on subjects of choice during free time. Exceptional 1st grade teacher. Focused on positive choice making and continued learning/demonstrated development. PTO is ok, school offers a wellness team that encourages healthy living for kids, we like that.

This is a good school if your child does not need extra help to succeed. I am a very involved parent and do not expect the school to do it all, yet I basically was told when I requested the school to evaluate my son (via IDEA, IEP, 501 plan) that unless he is FAILING no additional help will be provided. So with that said ... be prepared that unless your child is FAILING, do not expect this school's administration to provide your child extra assistance. No, they would rather your child FAIL first (thus plummeting their self esteem and of course once that happens, it is that much harder for your child to believe they are smart and can succeed). Sadly, I do not believe other schools in Waukesha would be any different. It's all about the money and no longer about the children. Case in point ... the doctor I met with to evaluate my child (a child neurologist) was boggled on why he wasn't already getting help. His pediatrician said the same thing. It was also stated by medical professionals that if I expect any help from Waukesha that I'd be better off getting a lawyer. Why should I have to do that, I ask? Why can't our schools just be expected to do the right thing?
