I cannot say enough good things about Sacred Heart School. It has been exactly what our son needed for his early childhood education. We've been a Sacred Heart family for the last three years and plan to stay through 8th grade for both of our children. The teachers are warm and caring while also facilitating a great sense of confidence and independence in the children. Our son started Pre-K3 knowing zero Spanish and just two years later, he's reading and writing in Spanish and feels confident enough to have entire conversations with native speakers. We also love how the school utilizes the surrounding neighborhood and community as part of the learning process. The trips to Rock Creek Park and the Smithsonian Museums provide amazing opportunities for the children to learn. Sacred Heart offers a great balance of culture, religion, academics, and community!!

We feel like we've found a rare gem in Sacred Heart. Our son is thriving and we so appreciate the community of teachers, parents, and families. The school incorporates project-based learning and is part of Harvard's cohort to build this curriculum. They are regularly held up as a model school in this area. We appreciate the focus on social/emotional learning and their ability to differentiate for a wide range of learners. Our family is is not a native Spanish speaking family, but our son had attended a Spanish immersion early childhood center. Our son is now truly fluent (at the age of 7) in Spanish and is confident speaking and reading in both languages. The schools has been awarded golden apples, best principle of the year, and has an outstanding and committed team of teachers. We highly recommend this school for those seeking a bilingual education with a grounding in faith and a strong community.

My child has been at Sacred Heart for several years now and I am extremely happy with this school. The teachers really care about their students and they assure that each child gets the individualized attention that they need to succeed. Academics are solid, and the extra focus on the arts, social justice, and being a compassionate human being makes for a lovely learning environment.

Dear friends at Sacred Heart School,I just came across your page while working on my computer, and many good old memories came to my mind, dating from the early to mid 1950's, when my older sister and I attended grade school at Sacred Heart, then run by the Dominican sisters, while our father was stationed at the Peruvian Embassy way back then. Many years have gone by and I am now almost 70 years old! But I can still remember many details, like preparing for our first communion at the Shrine of the Sacred Heart on 15 May, 1955...9.00 a.m. to be precise! Back in Peru I went to an English-speaking school run by Marianist priests and brothers. Later I attended the Catholic University in Lima and became an engineer, only to become an official translator at the UN in New York and Geneva a few years later. When I retired from the UN in Geneva, Switzerland, I returned to settle in Peru once again. But it all started at Sacred Heart School! May God bless you all!Carlos SALMON

Sacred Heart is a small Spanish-English bilingual Catholic School located in the lovely Mount Pleasant neighborhood of Washington, DC. My family feels very lucky to be a part of this school and we have loved watching it grow. Sacred Heart has a warm, inclusive environment and solid academics with a lot of individualized attention. Teachers use a lot of art and creative thinking routines in the classroom to enhance the students' learning process and to deepen their understanding. The school also focuses on social justice and community service, which has been a bonus.

My daughter is just about to complete her first year at Sacred Heart (pre-k 3). SH is a relatively small school with a friendly and warm atmosphere. Parent participation and involvement in the school is strongly encouraged by the principal which is great. The bilingual aspect of the school is important to me as I'm raising my daughters in Spanish and English at home as well. Having been raised Catholic I also value the school's Catholic tradition and values.

My children have been attending Sacred Heart Catholic School for several years. Is small school, but growing steadily over the years. The teacher are excellent, caring, motivated and committed to provide the best education to their students. They are constantly finding innovative ways to teach. The athletic program is growing, elementary and middle school have a soccer and tennis club, which is healthy way to create school spirit, responsibility and comaraderie. Education, behavior and good grades are a must to be eligible to participate in these clubs. The idea of starting a baseball and basketball clubs are in development. I love the fact that is a bilingual school and my children learn their heirtiage. The school has a strong belief, warm, cheerful attitude and familiar enviroment!

My son has been attending Sacred Heart for two years. Prior to his entry he understood Spanish but he was definitely not bilingual. His Spanish has improved by leaps and bounds in the last two years while he successfully completes academic grade-level coursework in Spanish. Additionally, this is a small community where all the kids know each other from pk-8th grade. It's a family.

I have taught at Sacred Heart for 3 years and have found it to be one of the best kept secrets in DC! We have an amazing community of people from all over DC seeking an excellent bilingual education. We have committed teachers and parents who work tirelessly to support our children and watch our school improve. Our school's mission statement includes that we "educate the whole child". I find this to be true of our school and am inspired by how strong our children are, not just academically, but spiritually and emotionally as well.

My child is currently enrolled in P-K. So far, I have had a great experience with the teachers, parents and the school itself. The principal, Mr. Mola is very professional and knowledgeable. I love the fact that students wear uniforms and a healthy lunch is now provided, but no only that, they also have the option to take their on food. The school is very secure and safe for our little ones.

We are very happy with our decision to send our child to Sacred Heart School. It is a warm and friendly school, with caring, committed teachers and students who are genuinely happy to be there. The parents are involved in improving the school and there is open communication between parents and the administration. The fact that the school is completely bilingual from pre-k 3 through eighth grade is exceptional.
