St Johns has been such a great experience for our family from our toddlers all the way through 8th grade. They possess great academics including honors classes, robust athletics, band, chorus, theater, tons of family-centered activities, extended care, prime location in downtown Warrenton, affordable, and priceless people that genuinely love these kids and the community. Connected to the church, three full time priests are actively involved in the school and youth group, making St. John’s community thrive. We have even navigated health issues requiring extensive nurse involvement and the staff at St Johns has been wonderful. We wouldn’t want to go anywhere else.

We have been a part of SJES for 11years. Our children have thrived and grown so much. Our oldest calls SJES “home away from home” and loves to go back and visit. We are so blessed to have wonderful priests who regularly visit to school.

Our family has been with St. John the Evangelist School for over 10 years. My children both started in Pre K at the preschool and then moved over to the BIG School as they call it. We have had wonderful experiences with all of the teachers. The teachers work hard at keeping the parents informed of what the kids are learning and any problems that might come up. One of my children has a learning disability. Once we learned of the problem the special education teacher helped us through the process of getting her the help she needed. She is doing very well in the program and we are so happy that they had this program to offer. My older child has since graduated into high school and is excelling in her studies due to all the prep work that they learn through out the years at St. Johns. The school community is very supportive and friendly and they make all new families feel welcome through many events and activities. St. Johns has a lot to offer kids of all skill levels and I am so grateful for having brought up our kids in this school community.

Our family have been part of the St. John the Evangelist School community for eight years. Our oldest is currently thriving academically, socially, and spiritually as a freshman in a public high school. We know that he is achieving success because of the foundation he received from his time at Saint John’s. Having the opportunity to take advanced math and honors classes in middle school has equipped him to navigate higher level high school courses with ease. All of our children have looked forward to the weekly school Mass, as well as the opportunity to attend confessions often. We are grateful that our children are attending a school that prioritizes the Faith, teaches and celebrates a life of virtue, as well as academics.

We switched from public school to St. John the Evangelist during Covid and it was by far the best thing we could have done for our children’s education. They are thriving academically and have made such wonderful friends.

I have had 5 children graduate from St. John the Evangelist School and 2 currently in the school. St. John gave my children an amazing education. They all excelled in High School and were able to go to their top college choices. St. John also gave my children an emotionally and spiritually safe environment in which they became confident Catholics able to stand strong against the waves of our culture. The faculty and staff are so happy to greet their students everyday with fist bumps and smiles. The Catholic Faith is at the center of everything they do.

I have known and been a part of Saint John the Evangelist school my entire life. All of my siblings have attended K-8 along with the majority of my nieces and nephews. I am grateful to now also be sending my children here. Academically, the school consistently maintains a higher standard of education than surrounding public schools. Upon graduation, most of the 8th grade students are eligible for, and successful within, advanced placement classes in high school. Furthermore, many graduating 8th graders also receive high-value academic scholarships to many surrounding private and Catholic high schools. The teachers and staff at Saint John all encourage students in their learning, responsibility, and, most importantly, their faith. My children have a fantastic grasp of our Catholic faith, and Saint John School ensures Christ is at the center of their education.

My daughter is a fourth grader and has been attending St. John the Evangelist Catholic School for 2.5 years. My husband and I could not be happier with the choice we made to send our daughter here. We are truly blessed to be part of this school. She has made life long friends and has a true love for learning, which I credit Principal MacDonald and all the wonderful faculty/staff at this school. We transitioned from the public school system to St. John’s when we moved to Bealeton, Virginia several years ago. In the public school we felt like just another number but at SJES we feel like family. We wanted to ensure our daughter’s education would be based on our Catholic faith, along with enhancing her level of learning with smaller class sizes. The partnership the school has with St. John the Evangelist Church is an intimate one that ensures children understand the importance of our faith in God. The school offers challenging subjects and a group of teachers who are able to direct a style of teaching that assists in the children’s learning. St. John School also offers lots of after school activities that include sports and the arts. Parents are able to engage with their children’s teachers and assist with the overall learning process to make sure everyone feels part of the school community. Academic support activities are also provided for students as well, such as, Math Madness and STEM Club.

St John the Evangelist School in Warrenton is a truly wonderful place. The staff are friendly, the teachers are exceptional in both teaching styles and the way they care for the individual student needs and feelings. Academics are rigorous but manageable and students are prepared for high school. The Principal is visible, accessible and approachable. He knows every student by name and their family. Our son has had a medical condition that has kept him in and out of the classroom this year... the staff and principal have worked with our son and us to make sure he is caught up and more importantly they care about him and his health. My husband and I have been blown away by their caring, understanding and concern for our son. When your child goes to St. John's they join a family!

We have been at this school for over 2 years and love working with the teachers and staff. They make you feel like family and help you out with any problems or concerns that you need. St. Johns is a school that has a little bit of everything and so much to offer your kids!

My child attended this school only for a few months as we decided to transfer her to another school because we were so unhappy at St John. The school is disorganized and we had such a bumpy road transitioning to this school. My child was in Kindergarten. Teacher is grumpy, not helpful to new parents, not warm with her children, slow to answer to emails and overall seemed unhappy with her job. This was reflected in the way she interacted with the kids and parents. It was just not a happy enviroment. We spoke to the principal about our concerns and didn't see anything change much.Too much emphasis on fundraising rather than the education of my child. I got at least 3 emails a week about how I needed to help with fundraising activities but no emails about how my child was doing in her classroom.I wholeheartedly agree with previous reviewer when they say " current principle cares more about technology and what looks good then actual curriculum. The teachers and staff can't seem to manage the classes without parents helping - which is extensive. Between the constant class parties, school events and mass/prayer there is not a whole lot of teaching going on." We were reluctant to transfer our child out of the school initially to avoid disrupting our child's routine. After many "second chances" we made the decision to transfer and are very happy we did. The school looks a little run down. The school office is still in the 1990's, they do most paperwork by hand rather than using computer for registration etc.The lady in the school office has been there for years and was friendly and helpful..actually the best thing about the school. What a difference now that we are at a different school. I have heard that at least 2 kids have also left the kindergarten class since.

The principal and teachers really care for each child at St John the Evangelist School. They have on-line grading so you always have access to the kids grades. This is a GREAT school!

St John is unfortunately not a traditional Catholic school. I had three children attend grade school there - they had four principles in five years. The current principle cares more about technology and what looks good then actual curriculum. I enrolled my children in public school and they were a full grade level behind. The public school was not surprised and said every Saint John student is behind when they arrive.Parents are rude and distant. Which matters since your are expected to volunteer in the school often. The teachers and staff can't seem to manage the classes without parents helping - which is extensive. Between the constant class parties, school events and mass/prayer there is not a whole lot of teaching going on.I wish we had pulled our children sooner.

We relocated to Warrenton from a suburban area. We had concerns over the size of the school and how that impacted the offerings. The teachers are amazing, many of which are parents of children that attend the school and are fully vested in providing the best education a small school can offer. The principal is fantastic: he is a leader, strives to get the best programs for the school (which has a new science program and computer lab with iPads for in class work), kind and loving and is very much respected by everyone.

We switched our son over in 4th grade and it has been a wonderful experience. We couldn't be happier with the school. The teachers and the Principal care about the students success and really want them to do well.
