I cannot believe how much my third grade grandson “unlearned“ this last year! He transferred in with an IEP, it comes with their records from another school. It was discussed at the first teachers meeting, rediscussed at the end of the first semester, and discussed again and again, get to no avail, no special ed help, no one knows where the records are, so hey! Let’s just test him again says the school! So finally, three weeks before school is out they retest him. Sure enough, he has an IEP! Imagine that! But, having an IEP would not have done any good at the school as they did not have a special ed teacher or anyone even qualified for such! Because this is a small school, grades are doubled up, first and second together third and fourth together and so on. Class sizes are average, and the 20 students per room range. So when it came to learning, if it was too difficult for my grandson, such as learning something important as multiplication or division, let’s just give him a color sheet and he can go sit over there! That’s how you handle an IEP student in the school! If your child’s education is important to you, absolutely do not send them to the school!

Horrible school. Administrators and board have ruined it. Ag is no longer offered, plus started 23-24 year they have one certified teachers so far, because all the rest resigned. Superintendent is rude. Before any parents want their child to attend this school I suggest you contact the Oklahoma state department of education and inquire about the school. The administrators are hateful to parents and everyone around. Request minutes from their meetings. They have made a joke of the school. All the way down to custom made shirts. All the teachers who left were good teachers, it’s sad they were ran off by an unreasonable and horrible person for no good reason. Do not send your children here. Call state department first.

Would literally give 0/5 stars if I could. Do yourself and your children a favor, don’t choose this school. If you live in the area, enroll them in a nearby district— it’ll be worth the drive to have them in a better school. Once this semester is over, my children are being transferred elsewhere. Lack of communication is so so so so so bad, honestly unbelievable. My kids have been in this school for 5 years now, hoping and hoping there would be some kind of change for the better, but absolutely has gotten worse. Also, water lines are so bad that school is closed frequently causing children to fall further and further behind. They do “virtual” learning, and even that is a joke. One of my child’s teacher requires the kids to do pages in a book that isn’t even my kid’s because they don’t have the correct grade book for him. She says she will order him the correct book, it’s almost February— 3 months until the school year is over and it has taken her this long to order one for him. It’s so scary honestly. When virtual assignments are assigned it’s “just have them do a page in the book they can understand”, it’s not an actual assignment on what they are working on in class. Or it’s “the answers are in the back of the book, they still learn even if they look at the answers”. What??? That’s not learning at all. Overall disappointed in this school, not just academically but they lack in sports programs as well with it being such a small school. If sports and academics is important to you as a parent, don’t let your kids go here.

I graduated from Wanette High School and currently have two children enrolled in Wanette Elementary. Wanette has had some Superintendent problems in the past, but I am very impressed with the current Superintendent and most of the teaching staff that I have had interactions with. Both of my children get plenty of focused, personal attention and are scoring above average for their age. I believe Wanette is a great place to educate your child as long as you stay engaged as a parent.

I attended this school (5th - 12th grades) and graduated from there with my highschool diploma. I now have a master's degree from OU and have 2 kids of my own that attend that same small school I once did. I truly hope that my kids will get to someday graduate from that same school, but unfortunately I don't see that happening unless our state starts doing its job of properly funding our rural area schools. I appreciate and highly admire the hard working and caring educators that refuse to lose hope and continue to teach at Wanette Public Schools.

This school is the worst one I have encounted yet. I assumed that with it being smaller sized that the teachers and staff would actually attempt to have a small amount of ability to communicate to a parent in a timley manner in regaurds to the childs education. Don't. Think for a minute that these small schools will better your childs education because it will only encourage ignorance. These faculty people don't care about anythinng but their own thoughts passing through their mind for that very momnet only.
