Most of the staff seems like they are there to collect a check and checked out. You can tell which staff members are invested. Short staffed. UnorganizedWhat happened to the passion and psychology of teaching?Fights breaking out right in front of me and police just watching. No attempt to stop or step in.Drop off and pick up are a disaster with traffic, busses and kids crossing without paying attention.The staff literally looks burned out and over it.PARENTS NEED TO DO BETTER SO OUR EDUCATORS CAN CARE AND HELP YOUR CHILD WITH THE SKILLS THEY NEED . We are in a college town .. do better for your child.

Deplorable. I believe it is better if a student student is academically gifted & is in all pre-AP or AP classes. My child is not in these classes, but shouldn't I have expectations that my child's education is just as important? In regular classes, my student is absolutely not being prepared to attend college/receive a higher education. As there is no homework, I cannot interact with my child pertaining to academics, as I have NO idea what is being taught. Because of this, I know that my child's only option will be to take remedial classes at MCC to learn what he should have learned at Waco High.Students pass from one year to the next as they are on a conveyer belt. If I could afford to send my child to a private school, I would in a heartbeat! I pay my property taxes which fund Waco ISD. I feel like I am failing my child by sending him to school in the Waco ISD. It is a horrible feeling.

My two graduates from Waco High have been highly successful at one of Texas' most rigorous colleges. We had a great experience at Waco High.

Let's face it, every school has its problems. Waco's are just exploited by a very biased media. Here's the facts: the real world isn't perfect. It's filled with challenges and hardships that require thinking on your toes and toughening up. Waco prepares you for that better than any school in the area could. My experiences there made my transition into the real world much smoother compared to my private school and suburban counterparts. The teachers are great, especially if you enroll your kids in AP. They're supportive, firm, and want to see the best come out of you. They teach beyond the text book and show how to be a productive member of society. Yes, this place is far from perfect, but that's not always a bad thing. Send your kids here if you want them to be well-rounded adults with an appropriate outlook on life.
