Class sizes are small so teachers can spend one-on-one time with children. Teachers offer additional support if requested. School offers extra curricular activities throughout the year.

I graduated from Victor Schools and this is the best school in the area. They are not as "clicky" as other schools and they strive for excellence in the children who attend. As far as the woman who gave the school 1 star and complained about the teachers teaching differently, all teachers teach in a different way. They need to adjust their teaching style to the child and their needs, not the child adjusting to the teachers style. Especially at the primary and intermediate levels of schooling teachers are going to be encouraged to run their classroom in a way that helps each child learn in their own way. Victor schools are the best in the area for academics and extracurricular activities. My brother and I graduated almost 10 years ago, and my younger sister is graduating this year, and even in 10 years the philosophy and direction of the school has not changed. Their main focus is, and always has been, to educate the children who go there and help them strive to be the best!

The primary and elementary schools have been unsatisfactory. The teachers do not teach the same. For example, some give spelling tests and some do not. Some teach math differently than others. Both of my children were behind in math and reading. They do not teach enough phonics. We are now at a private school and my kids are doing so much better.

If your child is able to learn regardless of who the teacher is or how the content is presented, then VIS may be a good fit for your family. However, if your child is in need of special education services, please be aware that this school is currently considered a "school in need of improvement" by New York State Education for inadequate progress in English Language Arts or math in the subgroup "Students with Disabilities". I am concerned about the staff's ability to adapt curriculum appropriately, as well as staff training, and provision of research based curriculum that is available in other local school districts.
