My child suffered from anxiety and stopped going to our home school. We searched for a school that offered a supportive and accomodating academic environment to my kid's needs and we are so glad STEM 3 Academy was there for us. My child has thrived here among understanding and caring school counselors and teachers. The administration at STEM is full of top notch caring professionals. We made the right choice by leaving our home school and admitting our child here.

STEM3 is a school for children with autism, ADHD, anxiety disorders and other challenges that impact learning but who also, with proper supports, have the capacity to perform academically at or above grade level. This is significant because in public schools, children in special education classes generally perform 2-3 years below grade standard and often general education classrooms aren't equipped to handle children with special needs even when they have an IEP and accommodations. We found our way to STEM3 after a truly terrible public school experience. My son is on the autism spectrum and has ADHD. In public school, my son was performing at grade level but he was being bullied and his teachers couldn't handle his behavioral issues. My son enrolled in STEM3 in 5th grade and the change of school has made a dramatic difference in his life and ours. He loves school, he has friends, the teachers and staff like him. And because he's happy at school, he's a happier kid at home, which makes life easier for all of us. The headmaster, Ellis Crasnow, is a wonderful person who radiates kindness and compassion. He knows all of the children and is extremely responsive to questions and concerns parents may have.No school is perfect so here are some of the areas where STEM3 has had challenges or could improve: It's a new school (I believe it was founded three years ago) and they have struggled with hiring and retaining staff. There has been a new principal every year and a shortage of teachers. It's an issue with special education on the whole, so I don't think this school is worse than others in this regard. Some parents have complained that the school isn't academically rigorous. For us, we believe it's more important for our child to be in a safe, supportive environment. If he has a need for academic enrichment, we are in a position to provide that to him through outside tutoring. However, if you are someone for whom academic rigor is a priority, you may prefer Bridges Academy, which is a school with a similar mission that is focused on children who are gifted. Overall, we are thrilled to have our son at STEM3 and deeply grateful this option is available for kids like him.

We have not experienced bullying at this school. This is a small school and so teachers have an opportunity to supervise the students more carefully.

I've been here for 3 years, this 3 years have been the best time of my life. 10/10 would do high school again.

I am so grateful for this school. There is, to my knowledge, no school that compares for young children as the only similar school (Bridges) won’t take kids before fourth grade. It’s given my child confidence again. I only wish there were more children.

My child would come home crying almost every day. This school (STEM3 Academy) creates an unsafe environment due to the fact that they do not know how to handle bullying. The teachers at this school are unqualified. Not only they are not qulifeied to teach students with learning disabilities, but also any students from the general public. Do not be fooled by the rehearsed tours when you go to check out this school. Make sure you check out what happens there on a daily basis.

this School is for children with autism and works to help children be successful. My grandson has the support he needs.
