As a former student that graduated in 2020, my experiences here were unpleasant particularly due to bullying and clique-ish behavior from both peers and several teachers/staff members. The academics were not at all challenging and it seemed like anyone could pass a class without trying. There’s few sports, and the school lacks a decent place for kids to have recess besides the Church parking lot. I think there’s one, maybe two (deflated) kickballs in the whole school. Also our only attempt to have a band program lasted less than a year. Probably not worth the enormous sum of money it costs to attend. My mother worked here and was treated horribly by parents and staff. A lot of the issues came down to money, with the school consistently being over budget and mismanaging funds. It truly saddens me to see this previously award winning school fall to where it is today. I really wish I could give my old school a better rating, but a lot of changes would have to occur first.

Unless you are Catholic and care about your child receiving a Catholic education, there are far better schools to choose from. Not in Vallejo public however, I would recommend district transfers. Their student assessment scores are struggling across the board for all grade levels. I find this very disappointing considering the tuition increases almost every year. With St. Basil's now having the highest tuition fees among all Vallejo Catholic schools- St. Basils, St. Catherines, St. Vincents. (According to current fee schedules posted online)You may notice St. Basils' STAR testing scores online are almost 3 years out of date. The image is shrunk down to size so that you can barely read the font. I had to request updated records directly from the school administration, and after going back and forth a few emails and getting the run-around, I was finally provided the schools' updated academic performance.Comparing this year's academic performance to that of 2020-2021 the scores have continued to steadily decline. Almost 30-40% of all students are in "intervention" or "on watch" for intervention in both Math & Reading. In my unfortunately honest opinion, I believe St. Basil's School hides behind their Catholic image to win over the community’s trust and market themselves as a superior alternative for education. However, many parents are busy balancing work/home life and do not have the time to look into their child’s academics. They blindly trust that their child is receiving an adequate education, simply because it is a private school.I encourage all parents to first do their research on a school's performance regardless of which school you choose. If you receive any push back or hesitance, then chances are there is something they don’t want you to see.Lastly, there are some miscellaneous items that I found distasteful at St. Basil's:Many times I showed up to my mandatory volunteer hours, i.e.- set up the gym for parties, etc. Only to walk in on the other parents drinking and getting tipsy in the kitchen like it was some high school reunion. I found this to be very offputting and frankly unprofessional. The school staff and administration can be very clicky, depending on how much you engage in their social events or donate. Some rules will be enforced for certain families; while another family in violation of the same degree will be overlooked and receive favoritism. We must not forget that Private school is a BUSINESS at the end of the day.

I am very happy that my daughter attends this school. We recently moved from San Francisco to Vallejo and she especially was very nervous about going to a new school, but from the first day she attended she came super happy with the environment and the way they treated her, she feels very happy studying in this school. This is really a very good school.

I have never been happier at a school. The community is genuine and the faculty and staff truly care. Many classes have waitlists. The school tests higher than all of local schools.

Reasons I love St Basils school : the structure, parent involvement, sense of community, children are respectful, feeling that my child is safe, great staff.

Our son transferred to St. Basil's pre-school about 6 months before his Kindergarten year and we have never no regrets. If we wanted to nitpick there is always room for improvement, but what we have noticed consistently, in particularly this year with the new Principal Mrs. Howard, is that the school is also working towards progress and improvement in all areas. My wife and I highly recommend this school to any family looking for a safe, established, accomplished and structured school in Vallejo.

EXCELLENT. I THINK MOST PARENTS HOPE FOR PERFECTION, WHICH DOES NOT EXIST AT ANY SCHOOL, BUT I BELIEVE IT IS A SAFE, CARING ENVIRONMENT THAT PROVIDES A SOLID LEARNING FOUNDATION AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR OUR SON.

I'll hold off on my comments until the end of school year. Good luck for now.

I would save your money and enroll your student in the public school. The academics are horrible at this school. The Spanish teacher doesn't teach Spanish, she talks about terrorism and actually asked the students to pray for terrorists? Um, ok. The kids are bullies as the cliquey parents can be. Good teachers have left and the inept one in my child's class lost assignments and didn't even look at any rough drafts of reports. Even my child said that his public school teacher is far more competent. Their math program is a mess. The quality of art classes are not great either, My son actually more art in his public school. Overcrowded classes and the kids bicker with each other, the teacher had no control, and she would destined them for 15 minutes after the bell, never mind if your kids have soccer practice right after school, she doesn't care. You might as well be in a public school, but wait, the public schools are more contained. Too much favoritism towards certain families. Save your money. Don't bother with this school.

I am used to be a parent of St. Basil's School. The reason why I nominate this school is because I cannot find a school who treat you as a family. St. Basil's school in Vallejo Ca. has a good scholastic record base on the recent test that they gave to the students. The moment you step in their office you felt the welcome that both Pat and Lourdes who work at the front office gave you. For me St. Basil's school is the best and for now I am working my way to go back to this school.

Horrible School! Kids are lacking in education so I transferred them to another Catholic School in Vallejo. When they went here their teacher was horrible and the principal had poor leadership. I recently heard that they changed the principal. But I will not send my kids back here anytime soon.

My son is in fourth grade and has been at st. Basil since kindergarten. We couldn't be happier. The principal is amazing, the teachers are wonderful and the families are great. The academics are top notch, including computers, music, art, p.e, Spanish and library time. My son loves the extra fun such as mardi gras, talent show, field day, walk for the poor etc!

We have attended this school since pre-school and my oldest is about to graduate from 8th grade. I cannot begin to tell you how wonderful this school is. They really have their priorities straight. They are strong on academics, they instill social responsibility, they prioritize 'acting right' and decision making. They are into making a whole, responsible, independent, educated individual. They nurture and protect your child until about 5th grade, then in 6th, they start expecting you to keep track of your own stuff, act independently, and pull your weight. I personally, love this approach, but I have heard from some parents that that was not their expectation. I have to say, it works for me and my family.
