A terrible school. Even kids who take Honors/AP classes are not educated or prepared for college. The grade inflation here is laughable. Phones are out among students and staff all day. The state needs to come in and take over and just rebuild from ground zero. Teachers are not certified; administration is a revolving door. Parents do not value education in Uvalde. As a result, you have dismal schools like those in Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District.

They wasted money on vape detectors that don’t even work. They’ll go off randomly causing students to be searched. And when that doesn’t even have anything it’s just “Oh okay go back to class.” When kids actually are vaping, the vape detectors won’t do anything. They wasted money on that instead of helping kids with their mental health. My freshman year, a kid passed away and the school didn’t even care. We have had children lost in this community and the school does nothing to offer help.

This school is probably, single handedly, the worst school I’ve went to school at, and I’ve seen schools with nearly the same community conditions do tons better than this school. Whenever I walk the halls, I get a false sense of security for my education. Knowing that the administration, doesn’t really care about the student, but the money being put in their back pocket. Teachers jump ship so frequently that, you can no longer know for sure if you’ll have the same teacher the whole year.

Essentially, teachers and administrators have to decide if they want to see their own families, or if they want to keep working at UCISD. The district's solution to their constant turnover is to kill their employees with training days. On top of their already long workweek, educators are loaded with required Saturday training sessions, which are often unpaid. The superintendent once held a meeting for the entire district and asked what we thought we needed to raise test scores. We explained several basic supports that we were missing. She clarified that what she was really looking for was "a quick fix," and floated her idea of paying students to attend Saturday school. This did not go over well with teachers who were not being paid for their time when working on Saturdays. Asking for a "quick fix" in this situation was like asking to paint the train after the wreck. She also liked to explain sudden changes to administration as "change for the sake of change." The prevailing opinion was that she replaced people who disagreed with her notions on management, especially since the really good administrators found themselves inexplicably shuttled into unasked-for desk jobs. Other good administrators simply leave. To their credit, they put up a valiant effort to turn UCISD around before they do. Many students and their families desperately want something better for themselves and for their futures. Many on-site staff work very hard (for as long as they can) to give that to them. Until District gets qualified people in charge who aren't simply interested in putting a notch on their resumes, and who can handle the deserved criticism that they need to hear, this mess is out of hand.

As many people say this school has a serious discipline problem. They also need to focus on the academic side as well.I don't recommend bringing your son/daughter to this school because theirs also tons of drug problems as well as bullying problems.

This school is horrible i went to call them, about some school information regarding a yearbook. When i was on the phone they prompted with a menu and i followed the menu word for word, but when i waited the call was dropped or someone hung up. I find this very disrespectful because what if i was in a serious accident and needed my son home right away i would be screwed because of the fact that no one in the office is willing to pick up there phone.
