The staff and faculty at Kettering Middle school were communicative, engaged and professional. As a new resident to the county, I was extremely apprehensive about sending my son to this school based on reviews and feedback from the community. However, our experience was amazing. They challenged my student academically and kept us informed of school activities and events. The administrators were professional, kind and supportive and the teachers genuinely care about their students and their success. This was not the experience I expected to have. The KMS staff is working to make a difference!!

Please avoid sending your child to this school at all costs. I sent my daughter to this school and withdrew her not even 6 months later. I found that this school is an abomination and should be shut down and thoroughly checked. The building is rusty and disgusting, the teachers do not to their jobs at all and let the students run rampant, then because they do not teach the children, the give the children tests and get an attitude when they do not know. A rat has unfortunately ran into me when I was picking my child up for early departure, and my daughter got food poisoning once from the food that they serve. So for physical and mental health for you children, I strongly disagree on sending your child here.

This is the worst school my kid has been to. The emotional support is my kid comes home crying every day. The teacher is not teaching. all they are doing is saying Not impressed with the school. Bullying and fighting run rampant; getting the administration to take it seriously is a battle. Some teachers are a blessing and it's a shame they're locked into this school. If you can...avoid sending your child here at all costs.

I’m have had nothing but issues with the principle a teachers at this school. My son hasn’t even been back to school 1 week from the harassment a the principal is already picking on him about where he walks a what he Carry’s in his hands. Of course the board doesn’t do a thing a these teachers get to make inappropriate joke with students a nothing happens to them. Not 1 teacher has helped, taught, and Ben carried to help my son this year. I will go the the Ohio board before this is all said a done. Might even go ahead a get me a lawyer

Worst school I've ever went to. Absolutely no good academics, too many strict rules, and there's no fun at all. I remember looking at the reviews of this school and they were all terrible and even tho they were from 4-8 years, I can tell those reviews have not changed at all. and the building is so rusty and the principal is so rude.

We have had a completely different experience than the other reviews so please take into consideration when those reviews were written and what may have changed since then. In 2018-2019 a new Principal was assigned. I was apprehensive about sending my daughter due to hearing negative things (uncaring, in knowledgeable, rude teachers as well as misbehavior of students interfering with learning). My daughter’s experience has been fine. There was an bullying incident early on that was quickly addressed by administration with all parties satisfied with the resolution. The teachers are knowledgeable and have rigorous expectations, integrating technology better IMO than some nearby school systems that the public perceives as better. The teachers and administration have been responsive and supportive. Also in 2020-2021 the school began the Spanish Immersion middle years program.

I cannot fathom the idea of a school out there being worst than Kettering Middle!I am a proud mother of a TAG student, sadly circumstances forced us to move and this school became the school he had to attend.

I attended this school back in 1997-1998, and it was TERRIBLE. I can't imagine things have changed for the better since then. I didn't learn a single thing in 7th grade. The teachers didn't know the material and had no control of the classroom. Most days, students would act up and teachers would scream at us all day. My parents were very upset when our class homework assignments were almost always to write 100+ times "I will not misbehave in school", or something along those lines. There were always fights in the hall ways. I got hit in the face one day (walked by the wrong place at the wrong time) and ended up with a broken blood vessel in my eye. Each day started with the entire student body being kept in the cafeteria before classes started for our daily "motivation/punishment". We also moved to Anne Arundel County after that school year. It was a terrible environment. I can't believe that school was run the way it was.

I have a 7th grader and 6th grader who attend this school. This will be our first and last year here. Not impressed with the school. Not impressed with school. Child's first introduction to PG county school is not a good one. School is old, outdated and ugly. Admin staff, especially the asst. principal is just rude, with a bad attitude. Principal is just non responsive and does not communicate very well. The board of education has introduced cell phones into the curriculum as a learning tool, what a disaster that has been. Staff are ill equipped to do their job, they still use chalk to teach in 2014, and are vaguely aware of how to use smart (Promethean) boards. STEM is certainly a non issue for teachers who are not technically savvy enough to teach this generation. Teachers, I believe are afraid of the students, frankly they should be. They are rude, vulgar, disrespectful, run their mouth too much, fight, have no home training and cannot spell, nor pronounce their own name. We, unfortunately are raisin a generation of failure, as well as setting them up fail with such a dysfunctional Board and school saff. The new teachers have my sympathy, you are dealing with a micromanager, with students who are allowed to run the school and teach themselves with inadequate staff who have been allowed to retire in place.

I don't agree with Principal bashing because working in the field of education is a tough job. I had the benefit of having a child under the former Principal Mr. Wright as well as the new Principal. I applaud both individuals for accepting my children for who they are and doing the best that they can do. Mr. Wright spoke of the academic strives that the school was making under his leadership and when we checked into it, his statements were always true. He once said in a PTSA meeting, "the school's success will define the community." We saw the improvements as the scores increased each year under his leadership. Good luck Mr. Wright wherever you are!!
