I went here back in 2008-2010, I was treated horribly by staff and teachers, not to mention the misconduct of the teachers while I attended. They pretend to care about special education, but instead of trying to help they shame you in front of other students and staff. I remember several occasions when I was very ill but wasn't permitted to go to the nurse's office, meaning I had to walk home with a high fever after school. Constantly mocked, bullied, made an example of. By far one of the most horrid of the 5 schools I have attended. Like others have said, if you aren't a straight-A student, you aren't good enough for their ' reputation '. I would NEVER let my children attend here.

When I first saw the rating on this school I was excited. Gray Middle School is the school from HELL! The teachers don’t seem to care the Vice principal has told me multiple times that I am wrong for feeling the way that I am feeling about their teachers taking more than a week to check my sons folder/work after being absent. They have given little to no instruction on how to use the required technology, resulting in my child who has never used that kind of technology to fall seriously behind in the work that is required of him. He really had no idea how to do it. There are no books, no help no support! When attending orientation the staff contradicting themselves on so many levels it was laughable!

Absolutely horrible. Put out house in the maker to get out of this school. They do not care about the kids and the ladies in the front office are the rudest people ever!!

Gray has a good reputation in the community which is what prompted me to enroll my child there. Unfortunately, our experience was not a good one. I wish I had read the previous reviews related to treatment of students with learning disabilities and IEPs. My son did not receive his documented modifications and accommodations. When I met with his team of teachers, one of them said, "If everyone else is doing this, then he can do it too." That is the purpose of Individual Education Plans...not all students are the same. In a matter of a few weeks, my son went from being a happy go lucky kid to stressed out and lacking in confidence. I quickly acted and pulled him to a school that truly cares about each child and their individual needs. If you have a special education student, I encourage you to look elsewhere. Gray Middle School is not the place for him or her.

Was told " I am not responsible for your child " I should be a better parent. Was also told everyone has a disability, live with it. Parents feel that children with disabilities should go to private schools . He has no filters on the new goggle chrome books, said he wasn't changing it. Also he allows the children to bring their cell phones and use them anytime . Why would they need that when they have chrome books? I have never been so upset about who is in charge of my child than I was last year and the beginning of this year.

While there are many wonderful teachers at Gray Middle, your child can rest assured that there will be an equally bad number of circumstances they encounter as a student at Gray. The teacher's hands are tied as far as how much support they can offer a student. Fortunately, there is presently new administration so perhaps times will change for the good but it has been our full experience, if you want quality, Gray Middle of Union KY is NOT for your child.

We moved from out of state and sent out two children to Gray Middle School for the 2011-12 school year. We found the school to be very behind in their technology and curriculum as well as an oppressive environment for both the students and the teachers. While there were a few good teachers, most of the teachers were terrible and appeared overburdened, not dedicated and as though they did not enjoy their job. Additionally, if you have a child in special education, I would highly suggest looking at another school. We found Gray Middles School to be inflexible and terrible to work with. When I asked his special ed teacher to review his homework assignments to see if accommodations needed to be made, she said "I can't do that...I have to teach and it really isn't my job". Throughout the course of the year, I had requested several meetings to modify his IEP, assignments and classes, they did not like this and his special education teacher began taking it out on my son in the classroom. Maybe with the new principle things will change, however we opted not to send our children back there.

Good school however the focus seems to be more on the state testing at the end of the school year than the education of the children. My 7th grader has at least 7hrs of homework everynight, this is not a lie. It's sad to think that at 12yrs of age she will be working this hard the rest of her life. Education should be more than throwing papers at the kids. Teachers need to focus more on teaching than the testing and the funding they get from the state.

Gray middle school is a very good school to go to.. Why exactly? Well look at our test scores. Do you think the student is just doing that by themselves ? No! The teachers help us succeed in everything. That's why this middle school is 2nd in nky!!!
