Our kids went here for kindergarten and first grade and we really tried to give it a chance and let them develop the programming they are working on. Unfortunately in our experience everything fell to pieces. Classroom management was horrible. No physical education, art or science. Sad to say but the school really let us down.

Don't be put off by the rating, which is based on old and biased data. Ochoa became a Reggio Emilia inspired magnet school a few years ago, and is now a lovely school committed to supporting our children's right to a meaningful education. We love this school. Our child learns through discovery, inquiry, and collaboration. Staff at Ochoa are warm and supportive. Each child is given individual attention and is known by name. Teachers bring out the best of their students by following the children's interests and facilitating projects. The classroom environments and gardens "the third teacher" are beautiful and natural, rather than over-stimulating. Ochoa feels more peaceful (with fewer behavioural issues) than other schools we've visited, perhaps because the Reggio approach promotes respectful and caring dialogue. We love this school and hope that more adopt the Reggio Emilia approach in years to come!
