Both of my daughters went here and were involved in the German DLI. My oldest started to experience bullying in the 2nd grade and I thought we had it handled. However 2 weeks into the 3rd grade it started back up because they sat the bully right next to her in class. She came home bruised from the hip down to her knee from him stabbing at her with his pencil. And when I took pictures and went to the teacher she tried to dismiss it. She out right said "I can't picture (name omitted) doing that he is just a good kid. I will move your daughter to the back of the line and put her in a different seat in class". I found it ridiculous that the teacher wanted to move my daughter because another student could not keep their hands to them selves. It only got worse from there. My daughter began falling behind and was struggling with tests due to her anxiety at school. By 5th grade she was failing every subject. I tried to get her on a 504 to accommodate her anxiety and the teachers were less than helpful. In the recommendation from the Dr. she was to be given extra time on tests and allowed to sit away from other students. The teachers argued with me about it and then to appease me said they would do what they could. However, nothing happened. And the bullying increased 10 fold to the point my daughter was coming home in tears asking why everyone in her class hates her, and why is she so stupid. I had enough at that point and pulled both of my daughters out to home school. I would never send my children back to that school. And in all honesty it has ruined me for any public school.

This is a school that demonstrates everything that is wrong with the modern American education system. Half the teaching staff changes every year.

My family has been going to this school for 3 generations, my kids are there now. We don't live in the boundaries of this school but because of the teachers and other staff. We continue and will continue to transfer our children to this school. The teachers are extremely involved in the education of their students. Parents may set up meetings at anytime, email and even call their child's teacher to see how they are doing or if they have any questions. I also get a weekly report of how my children are doing as well as what they are learning in class. The school itself gets a bad rap because it is an older school , but it is the best public elementary school I have ever seen. It's clean, the kids get the attention they need, and the teachers truely love what they do. If your rankings went higher West Elementary School in Tooele would still get top marks. From this happy mom.
