We moved to Salem Lutheran from another private school the first full year (2020-21) back in the classroom after Covid. The faculty and staff did a great job having a plan in place to ensure learning continued in that transitional year, and have continued to do so every year thereafter. Salem students lead with HEART, and the school is committed to developing tomorrow's leaders in the classroom, on the (in our case volleyball and basketball) court, and in the community.

Salem Lutheran School has been my favorite place to teach! Salem staff and students are more than just a school body, but a family. We get to share in the firm faith and have so many unique opportunities for fellowship any day of the week! Salem works to teach the whole child, rather than solely teaching to a test and without sacrificing academic rigor. Salem helps to lay a firm faith foundation and gives its students a wide range of opportunities to rise up as the Next Generation of leaders for Christ. If you want to get plugged into more than just a school, Salem is your community!

Our experience at Salem was fantastic. The teachers are strong in the subjects that they teach, caring, and empathetic. Our son was well prepared for a college prep high school when he left Salem!

Communication, understanding, grace, and love have always been evident at Salem. Best school in the state of Texas, this is my 20th year to have a child at Salem Lutheran School.

I have been felt very strong support for the children at every level.

Salem has been such a blessing. I've worked at multiple schools and the community here is unlike any other. The staff and students really rally to support you through the highs and lows. I am so blessed to teach here!

The principal told my 10 year old daughter that none of the other kids like her and that she didn’t have any friends

Horrible!! I wish I would of pulled my children out sooner. My children are now in Public school and are doing so well. They have had no issues now with bullying or grades. They have so many friends now in public school. My plan was to keep them in private school all the way through, but because of this horrible experience at Salem we have decided to put them in public. Best decision I have ever made. My children were also behind academically when they went to public school. I thought sending them to a public school they would be ahead but that is not the case, and my daughter was a straight A student at Salem. I hear many parents say kids are behind when the go to public school.

Our family has been with Salem well over 12 yrs now with experience both in Salem Early Childhood and Salem Lutheran School. Our family also did not have a church home at that time with mom and dad coming from Methodist and Catholic backgrounds. As we became more involved with school activities, we started attending the church and we found a church family home in addition to a great school. Salem has a great community of teachers and parents and has been a true blessing to our family. My oldest child who is a Salem alum continues to excel academically and socially in school and my youngest child loves going to school there and has made many friends and loves the teachers. We are not lifelong Lutherans but we definitely found a school and church home with Salem. I recommend visiting the school - have your child "shadow" another student for a day - get a tour of the school from the student leaders - visit with Dr. Gaertner or Mr. Saalfeld - come visit the church on Sunday. The cool thing is our teachers are also heavily involved in the church and the church is very supportive of the school. Pastor Niekerk is a great spiritual leader and we are extremely pleased with our Salem experience of 12+ years. Come visit Salem and see for yourself!

My family has been so blessed to have students at Salem Lutheran School for the last 10 years. So far, we have experienced infants through 4th grade and have been more than pleased with the education our children are receiving. Anywhere you go, there are going to be issues and I am thankful that the staff and administration is open and willing to discuss anything that I have questioned. The teachers are loving and supportive in and out of the classroom. We have even had teachers attend my daughter's sporting events! The academics are spot on and my children learn and grow daily. Just as important as the academics is the social, emotional, and spiritual development of my children. I could not imagine this being better anywhere else. We are raving fans of Salem Lutheran School!

I am currently a parent and teacher at Salem! I love my job because I work with people that love God and love their students. My own children are happy, they know their teachers want them to succeed. The students in my classroom bring happiness to my heart each day! I know that God had placed them at our school and in my homeroom for a purpose! Salem is all about sharing the love of God with others, teaching our students how to be servant leaders, how to strive for excellence!

I've been a parent, volunteer and am currently teach at Salem. I've been a part of the ministry there for over 12 years! My 3 children have all been "raised up" by Salem and Concordia! God has TRULY blessed our lives by allowing us to partner with them in raising great leaders for Christ!!

After having children at this school for 18 years now, I would never consider another school! The teachers love the students, and love what they do.

This is a great school with caring, loving teachers who share their strong faith. My children have learned so much and feel love and support from all staff and peers. We have attended since 2008 and disagree with the reviews that bullying is a problem and teachers don't care. These are apparently disgruntled parents or students. I love the way administration supports teachers and students and know for a fact that students have been asked to leave the school when they are a discipline problem or bully. I love Salem Lutheran School and feel it is one of the most nurturing schools in the Houston area. My oldest is now in HS and Salem has prepared her for the rigorous academics of AP and honors classes! Thank you Salem!

As a former parent and current grandparent, I am extremely critical of the outcomes of a long term investment in private education. Salem has made a lifelong impact on my daughters and their children- they are well rounded and well grounded individuals and their children are growing into successful independent learners with leadership opportunities that are second to none!

My experience with this school has been nothing but positive. Teachers have been responsive and caring when presented with challenges and issues with my child. Administration has listened and kindly explained when I didn't agree with a policy.

My daughter attended Pre-K to 8th grade. I wouldn't have changed one thing. It definitely set the groundwork and layed the foundation for her high school years.

We have had an excellent experience at Salem. Our son attended 1st-8th and our daughter K-6 (current student). So after 9 years of interaction with teachers, staff, coaches, parents, and church administration, I feel more than qualified to rate this school 5 stars. We have seen teachers and staff love on our kids, and challenge them in and outside of the classroom. We've experienced a variety of personalities within the teaching staff - from loving and soft to more stern and "by-the-book," and although our kids loved the soft style better (who wouldn't), we value that they are required to adjust to different personalities - because isn't that how life is? We all need to get along well with people who are not like us.I also feel that our children were and are protected while here at Salem - their minds and hearts. Each of my 2 kids had some mis-steps socially (not like bullying or anything, but maybe not exactly kind in a certain situation). And the teachers were quick to DISCREETLY correct the behavior, along with a private chat with me. So I was able to continue the teachable moment.I mostly appreciate the PARTNERSHIP I feel with the school. They are not only trying to teach the students, but love them and grow them up in leadership and service. Service is big around Salem, and there are multiple opportunities to get involved with serving the community and world. No, Salem is not for everyone, and I'm not pretending that it is perfect. But it's a place where the teachers and staff truly care about each student and they strive to make the experience a positive one.

Bulling is allowed by the staff. Both bulling by students and staff alike. Mental and physical bulling. Protect your children and do your research before choosing this school.

Nepotism ruins the environment of this school. Everyone is related and instead of the school doing what is right for the students, the teachers and administration protect each other. Make sure you look at the faculty list and notice how many people have the same last names.
