Worst middle school. No words on how this school is run. All of WJCC schools are remedial education at best but this one is negligent and has complete disregard for any child’s well being. Just awful. Avoid at all costs!!!!

This school is awful i hate coming here everyday its a nightmare most of the teachers barely care and they are over strict. the school nurse treats me better than the teachers do. The food is very bad I know the food isn't supposed to be start quality but my god its horrible most teachers are overly rude for no reason. From Nathan R Johnson

Very poor leadership. Zero appropriate discipline for students and poor behavior of teachers goes unaddressed. There are some amazing teachers at this school, but sadly most are leaving due to a continued lack of support and respect from the administration. The principal is unavailable, disengaged and unseen. I wish the central office would pay attention. We need real school counselors that do their jobs.

Been in the Toano middle school family for 4 years now, with 3 of my 4 kids, and they all have had outstanding experiences. It's not perfect but the teachers want the students to excel, and will always work together with parents to help each student do that. There a multitude of programs for the kids to participate in to explore other areas of interest. We've not had any real problems with bullying thus far, and yhe staff is always there to help if you ever need anytbing or have questions. We moved from Norfolk and I can say without a doubt this school is top notch. They even have the uniform closet where you can get gently used discounted uniforms, so there isn't a huge issue with that part. Nobody loves the uniforms but I think it's fine.

Excellent! I love being able to see grades and homework and information from the teachers telling the parents when quizes and tests are on Parentvue. I have had great response with any inquires I have had for a given number of teachers. I love the uniforms as well. Love the fact that my child is in a good environment.

I don't understand why anyone would think that this school is bad. I am a student here at TMS. The teachers are highly educated and Toano has gotten the highest test scores in the disrict. The uniforms are helpful because you if they wouldn't then you would be like "Oh my gosh what should i wear"! No, anyone who thinks this school is bad are badly mistaken. I totally require going here. This is my 1st year here as a 6th grader and i love it and i don't students should not go here. My parents love it and I love it. TMS ROCKS!!!

Toano middle school is very well organized, clean and up to date with the latest technology. I go to Toano and I love the uniforms. They give you choices on what Color shirt you can wear and they can give you a little slack. The teachers are amazing and I personally love each and very one on of them. And I know you will to if you join this school. Just because we are a uniform school doesn't mean we don't have fun. We play games we have spirit days and dress down days wear we don't wear our uniforms and it's really fun. So if you decide to join please do. Our school welcome new people. Listen to me from a students point of view this is the best school in the area. My name is Olivia M and I recommend Toano middle school to anybody.

We are new to the area, we have been very happy here at Toana. I think the whole school uniform thing is nice, makes middle school that much less stressful. I'm very relieved that our oldest son has taken to middle school very well. So far all the teachers and other staff seem very pleasant.

This school was terrible. There were inexperienced teachers and uniforms. Not to mention, the bus my kid was on, they had to sit boys on one side and girls on the other and I'm not going to say any more than that. Also, the classes are extremely overcrowded. Not such a good school.

People who think this school are mistaken. The students are great, and above average there. They got the highest sol scores in the district. There are fights, but there are always fights. The one bad thing is uniforms. First I thought they were great, because they are an equalizer, but shoes? Socks? what they look like still gets judged and students feel the need to rebel. There ARE name brand polos and khakis.

I have worked in all three middle schools. Toano is my favorite. The staff and Principal are incredibly devoted to the students. Students are well supervised at all times. Uniforms help keep students focused on school. Toano FAR out shines Berkeley Middle School for control in the classroom, hallways, cafeteria, and teacher dedication. It is a tight nit community with a strong advocate as their leader.

Very positive experience overall. Our son finished 7th grade in Toano after James Blair was closed in 2010. I would like to praise enthusiastic effort of Mr Fudge who is a new Principal in Toano. Our son took advanced-level math and got 100% on the SOL test. English, Math, Science, PE, Band were especially good. We could keep track of our child's progress online via Edline that was frequently updated.

I can't believe this school received a top rating. This school has the worst testing scores not to mention tons of crime. We pulled our child out. this school is the worst in the district and everyone in the community knows it.

Terrible school. If you are zoned for this school, I would advise moving. It is the worst of the 3 middle schools in the district.
