Amazing school. The teachers absolutely love the kids and the parents are engaged and supportive. I love this school. One caveat: Principal Kaiser is horrendous. She has no business running a school. Two examples:1) the school is so unsupportive of clubs that the local rec council has stopped supporting programs at Hampton. 2) our neighbors kid rides the bus, which usually arrives by 4:30. At 5:04, our worried neighbor called the school and spoke to Ms. Kaiser directly who said she was too busy to let parents know about the late bus. She needs to be fired.

Hampton is a fabulous school. It received a 5/5 on the new Maryland public school matrix and with good reason.

We found the administration at Hampton Elementary to be really challenging to work with. Our kids had some good years and some bad years but it just depended on the specific teacher. The administration is clueless as to what goes on in some classrooms and the principal and v.p. can be so rude to parents. The computers are used as babysitters in some classrooms and the administration does not want to acknowledge the changes that came with the computers. Hampton is a beautiful school but because of the admin, it's not much of a community. It doesn't surprise me that minorities don't perform as well on tests (as stated on this website), we saw some minorities treated poorly during our time there. Bullying is part of the culture and it really starts with the principal and v.p. not being able to have clear communication with parents- listening is not their strong suit. Research shows that getting parents involved is what makes schools successful- HES principal and VP just seem to want the scores to be good enough on all the tests. Not much community in that. We have friends in surrounding elementary schools, and they're certainly not perfect either but the level of discourse between parents and administration is so much better than at HES.

Terrible. This school has a terrible bullying issue. A student that I know has a bullying issues at Hampton for years. They have been teased and left out. The school does nothing about it. Sometimes they come home confused and crying. Hampton was a good school, but that seems to be changing.

I've had an overall amazing experience sending my daughter to Hampton Elementary School. The teachers are great, administration is very personable as well as helpful... Most of the families here are very close, it feels like a giant family. I will happily send my daughter here for the rest of her elementary school years.

Hampton is a superb school. I have multiple children with different educational needs and I am happy with how Hampton has been educating each child.

I am really very happy with Hampton. The teachers are excellent, the classrooms involve a high level of technology, and my kid demonstrates new skills and ideas learned daily. I couldn't be more impressed with the work he is doing, and I also really like the values education they do with the kids. They have a great curriculum for teaching right versus wrong, decision-making, character, thoughtfulness and a host of many other things that form the foundation for good people. My son is just in kindergarten, and I already see a huge difference in his regard and treatment for others, and he talks to me about the things they are learning in school that help him to think that way, which we try to teach at home as well. Baltimore County has a very technology forward portal for kids to work and explore ideas at home through Dreambox and other programs to access online. My son has shot up in his ability to do math by doing Dreambox when he is here complimented by in class lessons and center. I have spent time both observing and helping in my son's class, and the teachers are on top of it. The classroom is bright, clean and organized, the teachers are excellent, and the work the kids are doing is academically rigorous for their grade. I am extremely happy with the school.

My daughter is in third grade at this school and it's been a wonderful experience. Recently renovated and expanded, each classroom has state of the art technology along with teachers who navigate it effortlessly. It's impressive. I also believe that there is sufficient assistance for lower grade learners that require extra help. The parent community is also engaged. I like that there seems to be a good balance between prioritizing academic achievement and play.

The principle and vice principle have a severe attitude problem. My child has been bullied a few times and nothing has been done about it. When they speak to your children, they say things and then try to deny it. My child has told me a lot of things they have said, but didn't want me to go back to the principle and vice principle because he thought he would get into trouble for repeating things. I BELIEVE MY CHILD. I just don't like the feeling of the school anymore. Never had a problem with any of the teachers. They all seem nice enough.

I am sorry to report that Hampton's administration was insensitive and pathetic for helping my son with special needs. My son is 3 so they denied him an educational placement despite my extensive documentation diagnosing him with memory problems. The special Ed teacher Ms Carr was the only person who had any regard for my son. The psychologist Mr. Brown actually admitted he never read the psych report but made fun of my sons diagnosis. It was clear their only concern was to uphold the status quo. I pulled my son and put him in private. I am currently moving and have specifically told my realtor Hampton is not an option because of its administration and support service staff. On the flip side my friends who have kids in gen Ed are thrilled. If your child has special needs constantly take your child to private specialists so you have documentation to properly advocate for your child.

A lot of bullying problems in this school. Teachers look the other way and the school counselor is ineffective. The administration does more to protect the kids who bully than the victims of bullying.

I was surprised to read the negative review from the parent with a special needs child. I have a son with special needs who has attended Hampton since 2009, and I couldn't be happier with the services and supports he is getting. The Special Ed teacher (Ms. Carr) is outstanding. True, at times I have felt like the Principal was not really on our side, like when we requested that our son repeat Kindergarten and she refused. But I have been pleased with the progress he is making in first grade and am now glad we didn't repeat him. The Principal is definitely the captain of her ship, but she is very involved with what is happening in her school, and I respect that. I know everybody's experience is different, and I know first-hand how difficult it can be to have a special needs child in school, but in general I have been very pleased with Hampton. The PTA has tremendous participation, and I have never felt like the parents here are "snooty" or unfriendly, which I have heard is the case at some of the other area schools. Overall, I love Hampton, and feel like it has been the perfect place for us.
