PS 340 is an exceptional school in the Bronx! It offers rigorous and impressive reading, writing and math curriculums as well as many enrichment opportunities for students. All of the staff members are very welcoming and supportive of parents and their families. I looked up their achievement on state tests, and they perform better than other schools in the district. A wonderful school to send your child too!

Both of kids currently attend the school and we have been with the school for 4 years. Both of my kids love the school and the staff. Everyone is nice and care about the kids. I wish they offer 6 to 8 grade, so I didn’t have to find another school after my kids are done. But overall I will definitely recommend the school.

The administration at this school is very unprofessional , and is rarely ever hands on with their own children. People run into the school wielding knives and they expect paras to sit at the front desk. Allowing other adults to put hands on their staff. A very uncomfortable atmosphere to work in , especially at a school. Should never be so negative. The whole motto is being a family at 340 , but nobody is allowed to speak their mind and articulate how we feel. there is no “i” in team.

We have had experience at multiple private schools in Chelsea. I believe the demographic, test score and other information on this base are BLATANTLY incorrect. Principal Pat is a no nonsense serious administrator and the NYC Public School system is EXTREMELY fortunate to have her talent and leadership. The teachers and administrators are kind, courteous and attentive. Use this info, don't use this info, but PS 340 is a god send to the families of Chelsea and Flat Iron

My daughter was at a catholic school for kindergarten and did not get the education level she did when I transfer her to this school on her first grade. She would have continue going to this school, but we moved to NJ

Teachers are far behind educating the children in this Bronx school in comparison to schools in New York City. Most of the teachers don't support the principle and feel that students are promoted to the next grade who are undeserving of such, according to one 4th grade teacher. Many parents don't speak english and therefore lack the ability to speak on behlf of their children's. PTA and other meetings are held for non english and english speaking parents together; therefore, so much time is wasted on translating. P.S. 340 is not a school for your child if your looking for a school that will provide multi culture. It provides services based on one culture and thinks little of the small percentage to children that are from other ethincal backgrounds.

My son graduated from PS 340 last year and I am proud to say he is an honor student. He did exceptionally well on his state test scores and very well on his reportcard. He LOVED it at 340. I also have a younger child and he also is doing very good. The school is safe, they plan plenty of activities, they always give HW, etc...I have nothing but great things to say about this school.

I love this school , i went there nine years ago! i'm now in tenth grade and i loved every single year there. i still remember the blue walls and the school-like smell everyone got a little taste of it as soon as you walk in. I remember all of my teachers name, i just really wish i could speak to them once again.

I have one child at PS 340 and all of my expectation that I held for this school has now gone. The principal does not do enough to get the children involved in extracurricular activities such as chess in the schools which is free or any sort of music classes. There is a lack of communication in obtaining information about your child's progress. You get the bad news at the PTA conferences which could have been worked on during the school year. You don't get a sense of what your child is doing in each subject, There is no real science work given in the class room and absolutely no science home work is given. The principal at PS 340 needs to take a look at PS 307 which is where we were zoned to go and now I feel much regret. More needs to be done at this school. I feel the principal is just concerned with her salary and does not canvas enough for her students. The teachers are in too much of a hurry to get on with their lives to spend an extra 10 min to speak with you, the parent. There is only one teacher who really impressed me and that was the second grade teacher my child had. I wish my child still had that teacher. The quality of homework is also lacking.
