The no bullying policy in that school is a joke.

I have been a teacher at Travis for 4 years. In that time there have been significant changes for the better. No school is perfect, there will always be some issues with bullying, fights, grades, etc. but the staff and administration at TSA work to do what's best for kids.

Teachers especially math aren't helping enough. Not enough help with students with disabilities. Most teachers dont care if a child has a learning disability. Most the time NO PE teacher in the class with all the children. The school report card has failed over and over mainly on math. This school needs to be shut down.and all children need to be passed. Principle and councelors could care less when the parent leaves after a meeting to get their child helped. Nothing new happens. This is a disgrace!!

I am going to address the person claimed that there is nothing but chaos. Each school in TISD has a police officer assigned to it by the district. These officer teach classes on campus. They are housed at Middle schools and High school. Most large school districts have the same program. As far as the fight issue, according to my kids they ate outside everyday and were allowed to play ball, frisbee, and other games after they finished eating. If a kid has s sub, it is not the school's fault. things happen. I think this person just had an axe to grind . Obviously this person had an axe to grind.

There is nothing but chaos when it comes to the students. Most of the students are out of control, disrespectful, and rude to other students and staff. There is a problem when a middle school has to have a police officer on duty and 8th graders have to have assigned seating at lunch for fear of fights! Last year I was told that my daughter would have to attend summer school, but she passed all of her classes. Then I got a letter in the mail stating that she will be retained because she did not attend summer school. The problem was fixed and she moved on to the next grade, but this should have never been an issue. Now, this year, my daughter had subs in two of her classes on the

I find it interesting reading all the reveiws. I attended Travis and so have all four of my kids. The school has had it's ups and downs, mainly from the instability of district leadership. The current principal has been there a while and has done a really good job with the kids she is given. The town of Temple is racially divided and the schools are the same. Travis is a neighboorhood school which recieves kids from really low economic homes. The school develops young minds and is dedicated to making sure each child gets a quality education. They compete in MathCounts, Quiz Bowl Academic UIL, and have a wonderful Gifted and Talented program. My kids have loved the school and have gone on to the one high school in town and been in the Top 10% of the high school graduating classes. The basis for their success came from Travis Middle

Travis is a wonderful school. The school is a nice, calm place when you walk in and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The Fine Arts Depts all win top honors, their athletic teams win all the district titles. Students have a chance to be a part of the Science Academy beginning in 6th grade which my son has really enjoyed. My sixth grader loves his teachers and has had a really good year. The administration is great. Anytime I have needed help or wanted information theprincipal has always made time for me and been very helpful. People say that Travis is a hard school we have not experienced any negative. They promote higher learning, and push students to excell in their classes. As far as discipline, we have never had any problems. I feel my child is in the right place for a quality education.

Travis is a good school. It has great oppurtunities. The only problem I have with it is that it does not have good discipline. At the beginning of my school year starting it, they started the new science program. They now offer a class for 6th graders called Exploring Health Science Careers. You can take another class in 7th and 8th grade too. When you take it in 7th and 8th grade it is high school credit. The teachers are very kind and want to encourage the students. It's the students that aren't trying their best.

Although we have had our share of problems at this school, I have found that if you get the right person to help you and continually follow up some issues can be favorably resolved. The prinicipal is someone who will work with you if you press the issues. As with any school there are good and bad. There are some that should not be teaching and there are some that change children's lives for the better. Travis has some great teachers that truly care. Administration is decent.
