Some teachers are very good, but many are football coaches who are not good teachers at all.The textbooks claim to be from a Christian perspective, but it is really a politically conservative perspective that uses some Christian language to disguise the true agenda. Many of the textbooks are from BJU Press, which stands for Bob Jones University Press. If you're child is struggling, the response of the teachers is mixed. Wanted to come here because the public school was letting our child down. The smaller size of the school was beneficial, but not sure the education is really any better.

Overall, this school is only okay if your child is invested in sports and already from a religious household. However, the coaches and faculty foster a toxic environment here. The quality of the teachers vary wildly (some are coaches due to understaffing), and the AP offerings are sparse. The heads of this school place a dangerous precedent by forcing a daily religious “curriculum” in the way of their actual education. Science classes are filtered to align with outdated and illogical arguments against evolution. Some teachers enjoy radicalizing students with their politics, then humiliating them if they challenge their opinions. It is the least diverse and inclusive environment that will hold back your child from being able to function in the real world. I gain nothing from writing this. If I can at least make well-meaning parents aware of this school’s blatant issues before they enroll, then I’ll at least know it was worth something. Please don’t make the same mistakes that my parents did.

This school has been a tremendous blessing to us!

Bad. There were some genuinely good teachers and experiences, but the personal agenda of the school, the inequitable prioritization of athletics over academics and arts, and the caving of administration to the whims of financially vital families makes it an ineffective school. The students attending the school are brainwashed to believe the biases of the faculty and it shows up in how they treat other students. There is a prioritization of a specific type of religious experience but very little theological substance.

After 2 years at the school, we are extremely happy and look forward to our daughter going all the way through High School at CTCS.

I have four children at CTCS. We our in our 10th year of attendance. As for high school, they have the following AP Courses: English III, English IV, American History, Government, Physics, Chemistry II, Anatomy and Physiology. For dual credit, you can take College Algebra, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus at the school campus for dual credit with Temple College. Students are also allowed to take dual credit online and attend at either Temple College, Central Texas College, or the Bioscience Center. We have had excellent teachers. Opportunities are abundant. A student can be in band and football. The Lion Leadership Academy is amazing. The Retreat program is amazing. Lastly, they have a dedicated Language Therapist and a Learning Lab to help kids with learning disabilities. CTCS does all of this in a Christ-centered atmosphere. We are truly blessed to be a part of it!

My daughter recently graduated from CTCS. Because of the strong academics, she was well prepared for college (at a top, in-state private university). With a combination of dual-credit and AP classes, she left CTCS having covered 21 college credit hours and aced her first semester at university. My child was able to be involved in all sorts of extracurricular activities--sports, student government, community service, NHS, mission trips, class trips. I believe she has a strong foundation, both academically and spiritually, as a result of her time at CTCS. We could not be more pleased with her experience at this school.

Our son and daughter has attended CTCS since Pre-k. I am extremely proud of the staff, students, and parents affiliated with Central Texas Christian School. If your child needs that special attention and what them to have that extra edge on life, I strongly encourage this school.

The elementary school and middle school are okay but I would not recondmend sending your child to the high school. There were very few oppertunities for my children here. Very few AP classes are taught and they don't have a dual enrollment program. I want my children to have the best education possible and advance levels classes are essential when it comes time to apply for college. Luckily, we pulled our children out of that school and put them into a school that encouraged them to expand their horizons. Alot of people have started pulling their children out of the high school because of the lack of opportunity. It is hard to be competitive for some of the nations elite schools when you don't have the chance to take advance level classes. With that being said this school does allow almost all of the students to play on a varsity sport which does help teach leadership and responsibility. Overall, we were not impressed with this school. After we left CTCS our children were a lot happier and did much better in school. My daughter got to tryout for sports and academic teams that were not available to her at this school. She became the captain of her debate team and president of a volunteer club at our new school. We had high hopes for CTCS and unfortunately we were let down tremendously.

Our choice to send our children (now in PK4 and 7th) to CTCS is consistently reaffirmed almost daily. My son started here in elementary, and coming from a local public school, we saw an immediate positive change in him. He was immediately accepted and considers all of his classmates his friends. He even has good friends in younger and older grades. There is such a commeraderie among all of the students because they are all on one campus. It is fun to see the older kids interact with the younger ones that clearly look up to them. I love that both of our children are growing spiritually on a daily basis and learning in a loving, happy environment. The academics are top-notch and challenging. I have no doubt my kids will be prepared for college and life choices. These kids are not "sheltered," as they are able to safely and intelligently discuss some very heavy topics going on in our world-some discussions that are discouraged in the public sector. There is NO trickle-down stress being passed from administrators-to-teachers-to-students regarding state-mandated testing. The new leadership has brought transparency and an excitement for things to come for those of us in this for the long-haul. Discipline is carried out in a caring, fair, and corrective way. We also love that our kids can be well-rounded in sports and other electives without having to concentrate on one area due to scheduling or student population. The win-term courses are fun and unique, and the purity classes offered are an invaluable bonus. CTCS has been a wonderful investment in our children's education.

Love CTCS. I have one child that graduated from CTCS and two others still in high school. I've found the teachers to be dedicated and caring. CTCS has strong academics overall, although there are some teachers that are better than others, of course. (Overall, science classes have been "okay", but core classes in English, social science and math have been very good.) I've compared CTCS to other private schools and most of the public schools in the surrounding area, and CTCS is still the best option for our kids. Tuition is reasonable, but we do make financial sacrifices for our kids to be here. Nevertheless, I think it a worthwhile investment in their future and a small price to pay for my kids to get a Christ-centered education. There is financial aid available but it is not heavily advertised. Be sure to inquire about it when visiting or enrolling. Athletics have been a big part of our kids experiences at CTCS, and we've enjoyed the coaching staff and appreciate their input into our kids' lives. All in all, we're quite satisfied with CTCS and look forward to our continued participation with the school.

CTCS used to be the place to send your kids for a great education in a Christian environment. I have had children in both the lower and upper grades. While the pre-k and elementary grades still have excellent and caring teachers, the upper grades are plagued by mediocrity. Dress code and trivial legalities are more important than the hearts and minds of students. The vision has become cloudy and the mission thwarted by poor leadership. The Board selects itself, only representative of an elite few. Many good families have left as victims of bad decisions, deceit, and politics. I hope that new leadership will bring positive change.

Dedicated staff. Christian worldview, care & curriculum. Sports, band, robotics. We had two kids graduate to the college of their choice with plenty of scholarships. Thank you, CTCS.

CTCS started out great. We loved it, and so did all of our children (ranging from K to 7th grade). When one of our kids got bullied, we complained. Nothing changed. When the teacher, who also happened to be a coach, was not teaching at all but letting the students watch 'youtube' instead we complained. Nothing changed. When a teacher thought our child was having academic trouble we asked to put into the "reading lab" (for an extra fee of course) and we were told they were full. Only to find out parents who had 'donate more money than us' could easily get their kids into the 'reading lab'. The curriculum is truly lacking. Sports are more important. The leadership is stagnant. Honestly, I wanted this school to be our home, but it failed miserably.

We've been at CTCS for 4 years. CTCS has blessed our family tremendously. The spiritual impact on our kids (elementary to high school) has been outstanding, and our kids have developed positve friendships. Extracurriculars (sports and music) are top notch. There is a strong focus on ministry to students, and students, in turn, serve others and the community in a variety of ways (secondary students in particular). Academically, the school is good overall--a few week teachers here or there, but above par for the county. (Bell County public schools are generally weak, and few are downright awful; even the best nearby public schools are just so-so.) We moved here from elsewhere in TX, and academics are stronger than what we had at our old private school. Graduates get into the best colleges in TX; most students don't go out of state, but UT, A&M, Baylor, TCU, etc. are good college options. Financial aid is available; just ask when you apply. Sending kids to a private school is a sacrifice no matter how you cut it, but we would give an arm and a leg to keep our kids in this Christ-centered, caring environment. (Thankfully, it hasn't cost us that much!)

At one point in time, probably a few years after CTCS started growing steadily, many things started to change for what was, a great school. Teachers were hired to fill spots no matter how much experience they had, curriculum sitting stagnant with little or no change or challenges, administration & board with varying different views of which direction the school should go, and raise in tuition to name a few have led many families to leave a place they had hoped their children would graduate from. It is a safe place for your child, but if you want the bar to be high academically, you will be able to find a better challenge at a public school.
