I have two children at Lewis: a 5th grader and a Kindergartner. When my oldest was ready for Kindergarten we looked at several schools and chose Lewis. We have had a wonderful experience! The teachers are amazing, caring, and kind professionals. Admin is very accessible and easy to work with. It makes me feel good that my I drop my girls off every day at Lewis, and I know they are loved and safe. My girls have thrived academically and emotionally. The school is so supportive of not only the children that attend the school. They are also supportive of the whole family. The education process is truly a partnership between the child's family and their teachers. I couldn't have asked for a better elementary school experience for my kids.

My son has been here for over a year and I was amazed how easy the transition was to this school. He’s normally higher anxiety than most and he was confident to go back to school without hesitation the next day. The teachers have been communicative and kind and overall we’re happy at Lewis.

Lewis is an amazing school! The teachers are extremely committed and clearly invested in their jobs. They demonstrate compassion for every child in the class. I can't say enough positive things about the teachers at Lewis, and teachers make a school great!

I don’t like this school . I hate driving my kids to this school. This is their first year here and they will NOT be returning, in my opinion they need all new staff . Not only is the staff unprofessional and rude to parents they are also very unprofessional when it comes to the children.

My family has been happy at Lewis. Has every day been perfect? No. Every issue that I have ever had has been addressed promptly, whether dealing with the teacher or administration - although I have only had a few. I have 4 children in a range of grades so I have seen the school over the years. The administration and staff always seem to be adapting to the changes and thinking outside the box to increase student learning. We also have great programs like little kids rock, chorus, morning show, and drama.

Lewis Elementary was once known as an excellent school, very reputable. Now it has gotten to the point where the teachers and administrators literally need to go back to school and attain more training as far as how to educate and manage kids. When the debate was in the air, for current teachers to have to return to school to obtain further education to be a teacher, I felt that it was not fair to teachers. I believe the teachers and administrators at Lewis Elementary need to return to school and take a review course.

We have been here since Kindergarten and it has been a great school for us. It is a very diverse population with a good balance.

Lewis went through a lot of changes due to the district's boundary switches. The teachers are working hard to meet all of the challenges in the middle of these changes. The parents who are unhappy with the school add to the mess; they don't want to hear about their own kids. Stay the course, Lewis leadership.

Did not satisfy the needs of my boys, their in the ESE program and I don't recommend this school. No safety kids can walk out with no problem, also one time the called so I can pick up my son because he got ill, I don't even know who was the lady that brought my son to me she did not introduce herself just said " he's your son and we need a note from the Dr before he comes back". It seems like they are just their for the check cause they lost their compassion and I know its tough esp with a child that has special needs, but if your fed up then change your career because these kids aswell as all kids need love and attention and NOT attitude. In spite of all this I never knew who their teacher was no communication at all. I recommend for ESE Pizzo Elem

Academically we have been very happy at Lewis. This is our second year and I had planned on sending my 4 year old there for kindergarten next year. however we are having issues now with bullying. It seems like in the past, the teachers and admin have handled the incidents with a "band aid" rather than going to the root of the problem. I spoke with another mother about it today and her child has had the same problem with the same 2-3 students. I have also heard that there are problems at the bike lock. My child is having problems in the cafeteria and playground. I plan on emailing the principal tomorrow and seeing if that helps. It is very upsetting that I have to worry about my child all day.

Lewis Elementary is an excellent school for kids to attend. Not only is it rated one of the best elementary schools in the area, the sense of community and togetherness that you have when you are at the school is overwhelming. The teachers and administration strive to make this school one of the best in Tampa. In turn, the students that attend the school are excited to attend and want to learn so they can be high achievers.

We have returned for first grade. My daughter has excelled at this school and is above grade level. The teachers are excellent and the staff has been very supportive and works hard to make sure its students have what they need. We have friends in nearby A schools and private schools and my daughter is on or above their reading and math levels. PTA is also outstanding and very involved which is extremely important. We love Lewis and my daughter is getting a top notch education!!

I really love Lewis. The staff and students are awesome. You can even take home animals from your teachers. Even though there are a few arguments here and there but that was a long time ago. I would suggest that you take your child to that school.

We have been part of the Lewis family since the 2008-09 school year. This past year (2011-12) we welcomed the arrival of a strong principal and new AP. The new leadership has brought positive changes to Lewis, including after school enrichment programs. The commitment level of the teachers and parents has not waivered. The teachers are experienced and communicate clearly with me regarding my children. The PTA is supportive of the school and there is a strong sense of teamwork among the administration, educators and parents. This sense of teamwork/involvement is what makes Lewis unique. There is also a shared belief that we can continue to improve and excel beyond the Florida DOE standards. At Lewis the focus is on the whole child....academics as well as character. Lewis will continue to perform well as long as the educators, parents and community support each other and the students.

My two children go to this school: 2nd grade / 4th grade. They love the school and their teachers. The principal is great! We are originally from New Jersey and this school has been really wonderful. My children tell me I am not allowed to move again because they don't want to leave this school. The teachers do their best to encourage the students to do their best which includes awards after each Marking Period.

WIth our move to Florida, this has not been the best of experiences. There is a general miscommunication with staff... that being said, I can see how the school might have been good in the past and agree with the previous post of "thank god" it is over.
