KMS is a great place. The school honors and respects all sorts of diversity and has classes and courses and teachers that really care. My child has neural differences (ADHD and Dyslexia) and has thrived at KMS. They are part of the GATE (gifted program) and deeply involved in school clubs from student council to theatre. I have had several issues with bullying that were quickly, professionally and expertly addressed by Mr. Maxwell and the rest of the faculty. If you want your student to thrive, and become a caring and compassionate kid, send them to KMS. I love the teachers and the overall climate. Don't believe the negative reviews. This is a wonderful, wonderful school.

This is a horrible school, in the middle of an upper-class neighborhood. The staff turns over every year, that tells you everything you need to know. They care more about politics than the students at this school. The teachers show off their political support, but if my child were to do that, he would get sent to the office. This school doesn't care about the success of their students. The Teachers Union is DESTROYING America's public schools!! If they try to pull a mask mandate, I will be pulling my child permanently and I will work tirelessly to rally for other parents to do the same. Its time for TEACHERS to get back to teaching and caring about the future of their Country!! Time for teachers to shut their mouths and do their job!NO STUDENTS, NO FUNDING!!! TEACHERS WILL LOSE THEIR JOBS!

My child LOVES Kyrene Middle School – from the teachers to the students to the challenging IB curriculum. The Kyrene Middle School integrates compassion into their teaching standards, emphasizes the importance of values, and builds leaders through each aspect of the diverse curriculum.Teachers are passionate about seeing their students succeed. They are so great about sharing success and achievements; and they know the importance of getting the parents involved should an issue arise. The staff of caring administrators, teachers, and support personnel is very respectful and approachable. The IB curriculum coupled with the diverse student population creates a perfect pairing for global thinking. We love that because Kyrene Middle School is an IB school, it is the only school in Kyrene School District to offer 2 exploratory elective classes of choice in every student’s schedule. If your child excels in the area of performing arts and design, like ours, Kyrene Middle School is the place to be!The valley offers many school choices. For us, the answer was simple. Find a school that challenged our daughter enough to feed her “love of learning,” acknowledge her individuality, and guide her to “do the right thing.”We found this in Kyrene Middle School.

We travel to KMS because we value the diversity of the student population, the dual language program, the GATE program and how invested the teachers and families are!

Average. Would have preferred another school in this district, but could not provide transportation this year.

Teachers have been great and supportive. Administration is TERRIBLE.

So happy that my daughter will no longer be attending KMS. It was such an awful year for her. She developed a horrible attitude due the kids that she was exposed. The staff was completely incompetent and unwilling to deal with her ADHD issues.

My son is in 6th grade and being bullied. We have older kids and never experienced bullying until this year. My son always loved school before this year. Every day I watch him get out of the car, mumble to himself, "I've got this," and then walk in with his head down, depressed. I have asked for several meetings with staff and my requests are ignored. This has been a nightmare. Do we keep my son at KMS with the idea that this will strengthen him or do we pull him out? We would appreciate any advice from any other parents.

Bullying is a big issue here, sent my son here for 6th grade and he's been bullied since day one, he's a quite well behaved kid who didn't "fit in" with the bully crowd, school staff does very little to make your children feel safe and I feel can do more to prevent his from happening, besides "talking" to the students, my son's going to give it another try this year and I hope students learn how to be more respectful towards others and staff are more aware of what's going on!

My daughter is in her second year at KMS, and has loved every minute of it. She enjoys her classes, feels like there's alot of fun extracurricular options for her to choose from, and has made some great new friends. As a parent, I can't say enough about the administration, and the teachers my daughter has had. They are 100% committed to the kids at this school, and it shows.

Transition was extremely easy... And the teacher teams are amazing..... Communication to and from the school administration is good too!

We moved to the area and I was concerned seeing reviews knowing my 7th grade daughter would be going here. KMS is a great school, my daughter has a team of teachers beyond amazing and the administration falls right in line with that as well. She requires accommodations and I can tell you all have bent over backward to do their very best to make my daughter comfortable and her school experience a very positive one. We could not be more pleased with KMS!!

As a frequent visitor to KMS during the school day and also as a friend of many parents who have made KMS their "school of choice", I would highly recommend this and any Kyrene school. There will always be more negative than positive comments on any of these kinds of websites so, first and foremost don't base your decisions on someone else's opinion - go and see a school for yourself. Meet the staff, walk the campus and experience the joy of the children, then decide. Do you buy a car just because your friend says its good? No you go drive it! If you expect children to do their homework, do your own!

Both my children have attended KMS and I have to say that I haven't been happy with the school overall. Bullying here is a real issue. Both my children have experienced this, my son was able to resolve the issues on his own but it resulted in him just "getting through" his last year at KMS instead of being able to enjoy his time there. I know that children will be children but the amount of inappropriate behavior that is conducted there is almost appalling. My daughter informed me that one of her peers was in trouble at school for having marijuana on her and that several students come to school high. I think with all of the social distractions it is difficult for the children to focus on the academics. If I were to do it all over again I would not put my kids in KMS.

My son is in the College Preparatory Program and has been on the honor roll the entire year. He has scored extremely well on his AIMS test, so for my son as an individual I have no complaints. The teachers communicated with me frequently. The school has provided us with resources and assistance and my son has definitely benefited and excelled with their support. My child is multi-racial and hasn t experienced any bullying. I think it is a good school and I have 3 friends who enrolled their children at this school even though they do not live in the district. They also recognize the opportunities that this school provides. We cannot let other kid s behaviors affect our children s education. My son is doing awesome and I believe anyone s kid can excel if they want to!

Better than many schools my child has attended. Though not the best I have enrolled my child in. We have been all around Arizona and have been to many horrible schools, though we do believe it is a well made up school, even though parent communication is not well.

Racism and bullying are bigl a problem at KMS, especially if you are a white male. The administration is aware of the problem(s), but have not found an effective way to deal with it, citing "cultural differences." There are some really good teachers at the school and their performing arts program is one of the best in the district. However, the social environment , lack of respect for authority, low academic expectations, and frequent classroom disruptions, result in a poor learning environment. If your child does not academically qualify for the "Prep Program," I would strongly consider enrolling your child in another middle school.

I went here for all 3 of my middle school years and found it to be an excellent school! I got plenty of help from staff and fellow students. i also learned A LOT. I think that anyone who feels that there is bullying due to race, then thats not completely true. It never has anything to do with race when being bullied..a student normally brings it upon themselves or the bullies just pick a feature to torment a student for. So, saying that it's "not a good school to go to if youre white" , is completely and utterly FALSE. And also "buses in too many kids from undesirable areas to keep enrollment up" is also false. They just giving students an equal opportunity to get a good education and KMS is the place to get t!

I ended up taking my kid out due to constant bullying. Not a good school to go to if your white! Lots of racisim in Kyrene Middle School and the Administration can't stop it.
